Hey there! I hope you are having a good week! Thank goodness it’s almost over. This has been a very hectic and stressful one. I think it’s going to stay that way at least for me. My huge work event that I’ve been planning for months since I’ve started is this month and there is so much planning and last-minute details that go into making everything perfect. It’s stressful but I’m looking forward to how it’s going to turn out. I can’t believe it’s almost here.
I had all intentions of posting my 19 Week Recap yesterday and was ready to post however I was having internet issues in my house. I didn’t have time to start playing around with the router so I opted to fix it when I got home and post my recap today. I’m actually almost 20 Weeks already but I want to post my 19 Week Recap since I didn’t get a chance to. Let’s get started!
19 Weeks Pregnant
Fun Facts About the Baby At 19 Weeks
- The baby’s brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that the baby may be able to hear your voice now, so don’t be shy about reading aloud, talking to it, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
- The baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom. (**We were told our baby is actually weighing 11 ounces so I guess our baby is bigger than they say at this point).
- The baby’s arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of its body now.
- Baby’s kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on its scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on baby’s skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
How far along? 19 Weeks & 5 Days
Baby’s size? An heirloom tomato
Maternity clothes? Yes, definitely. I am still wearing a few pre-pregnancy tops but only if they are on the big side. I don’t want to stretch all of my clothes out. I still need to buy some more tank tops and short-sleeve shirts. I really want to buy some maxi dresses because I think they are going to be the most comfortable once I am a lot bigger and it’s hot out. I also want to get a pair of jean capri’s and a jean jacket. So I have quite a few things that I need to get me through the spring/summer. Bring on the sales and clearance racks!
Stretch marks? No. I use lotion every day to prevent it.
Sleep: Still having issues sleeping. I get up multiple times a night to use the bathroom. I toss and turn a lot. Sometimes I wake up extremely thirsty and can drink almost an entire bottle of water in one gulp.
Best moment this week: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound screen, hearing it’s heartbeat and finding out the GENDER!!!
Miss Anything? I find myself occasionally wanting a glass of wine but I am absolutely fine without it.
Movement: I still feel a lot of butterflies and flutters. I now also feel twitching. I asked the midwife about the twitching and she said that means the kicks are getting stronger. So I’m hoping I feel kicks soon! Our baby was VERY active in the ultrasound so I know it’s moving around a lot in my belly.
Food cravings: Cheese, Pink Lady Apples, Decaf Coffee, Fried Chicken (weird, because I NEVER eat fried chicken), Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell (might need to get this sometime this weekend), French Fries, Eggs, Pineapple, Salad, Croutons, Pasta
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, not really. I’m very sensitive to smells though so if I smell something bad it will make me feel queasy.
Gender: I am happy to say that we know but I will not spill yet! We still have to tell a few more people and then I will be sure to let all of you know! Hopefully by next week! I can’t wait to share!!
Labor Signs: No, thank goodness!
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, tired, breakouts on my face/body, getting hot/cold, linea niagara on my stomach, occasional headaches, frequent urination (tmi, sorry).
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy/Nervous. I’m also quite emotional and can cry at a moments notice.
Looking forward to: Buying baby clothes for our baby since we know the gender now and buying things for the nursery! I’m also looking forward to feeling kicks and punches.
So there you have my 19 Week Recap! It’s been quite the week especially since we now know the baby’s gender and that will make buying things for it much easier. I’m hoping to go to a few consignment sales this weekend and see what I can find. You never know what you will find at these sales. I figure as long as something is in good condition, I can wash it and it will be as good as new. So we will see. I really cannot wait to share the gender with all of you! I promise I will very soon.
Alright, well have a lovely Thursday!
