18 Weeks…

Happy Thursday to you!  Today really feels like it should be Friday and not Thursday.  I’m not sure why but this week feels like it’s been dragging a bit.  Hopefully today will speed up and we can get to Friday.  I have so many things to do on my to-do list.  I just hope that I can start crossing things off.  I’m hoping that this weekend I will be able to accomplish many things that I’d like to.  We still haven’t started to organize our house yet.  I know, I know.  I’ve been mentioning that for 2 weeks now.  I need to get my act together and start clearing out the bedroom.  I am definitely going to start doing that this weekend.  I have to.  I’m going to run out of time if I don’t.  Anyway, let’s get started on my 18 Week Recap!

Fun Facts About the Baby At 18 Weeks

  • Head to rump, the baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and it weighs almost 7 ounces.
  • The baby’s blood vessels are visible through its thin skin, and its ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from its head a bit.
  • A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around the baby’s nerves, a process that will continue for a year after its born.
  • If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

How far along? 18 Weeks & 5 Days

Baby’s size? Bell Pepper

Maternity clothes? Absolutely.  I don’t think I’ve put on pair of my regular jeans in quite a while.  Maternity pants are a lot more comfortable.  I mentioned that at Old Navy I bought 2 tank tops, 1 short sleeve top, and 2 3/4 sleeve shirts.  My mom and Melissa also got me 3 really cute shirts for my birthday.  I’m looking forward to wearing my new shirts once it gets warmer.

Stretch marks? No, still using lotion every night.

Sleep: It’s still rough.  I usually get up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom.  I toss and turn a lot to get comfortable.  Sometimes it’s hard to get back to sleep.  I wake up thirsty all the time.

Best moment this week: Celebrating my 30th Birthday and feeling flutters and butterflies from the baby.

Miss Anything?  Having a glass of wine/champagne to celebrate my birthday.

Movement: I’ve been feeling butterflies and flutters.  The movements aren’t strong yet and I haven’t felt kicking.  I’m hopeful that it will happen soon.

Food cravings: Cheese, Pink Lady Apples, Egg Salad, Decaf Coffee, Chips with cheese melted on it, Popcorn

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Sometimes if I smell something fowl at work it will make me feel queasy.

Gender: We find out next week!!!!  I can’t wait!!

Labor Signs: No!

Symptoms: Round ligament pain, tired, charlie horses are back and ready to bother me, breakouts on face/body, tightness around belly sometimes

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy for the most part but stressed out lately.

Looking forward to: Finding out the baby’s gender next week and feeling stronger movements.

So there you have my 18 Week Recap.  My stomach grew bigger from last week which I expected.  Other than that, nothing much really has changed.  I’m waiting anxiously to feel kicks.  I probably drive Mike and Melissa nuts with how I keep talking about being kicked.  I just want to feel it.  It’s killing me waiting and waiting.  I will wait though until the baby is ready to kick me for the first time.

I am also counting down the moments until I get to see it again on the ultrasound.  I swear that is one of the happiest moments of my life when I get to see it on the screen.  I’m getting nervous about finding out the gender.  It doesn’t bother me either way what it is.  I want it to be healthy.  If I had a preference, I’d probably say girl and my gut instinct is that it’s a girl but who knows.  I’d be very happy if it is a boy too.  I just want to know already!!  Soon enough!  I will post on here after we tell our families.

Alright, well have a lovely Thursday!!

  1. Ahh, such a cute baby bump!! :D

  2. Ahh, I can’t believe you still have to wait another two weeks to find out the gender! So much waiting, haha! Have you started thinking about nursery room stuff or are you just waiting until you find out the gender?

    • Haha! I find out the gender next Tuesday but I probably won’t post about it until we tell our families. :) I’ve started thinking about nursery room stuff. We found furniture that we both really like. I have some ideas but I haven’t decided on color schemes yet until we know the gender. I know a few things that I definitely would like in the nursery. It’s exciting but very overwhelming with how much we need to get.

  3. So exciting! I remember that even before my ultrasound, I felt that Alex was going to be a boy, so maybe your instincts are right! You look great!

    • I think that is so awesome that you guessed right and Alex was a boy! That would be really neat if my instincts were right. I’d be happy either way though :) Thank you so much! I hope you are doing well! :)
