Happy Thursday to you! Today really feels like it should be Friday and not Thursday. I’m not sure why but this week feels like it’s been dragging a bit. Hopefully today will speed up and we can get to Friday. I have so many things to do on my to-do list. I just hope that I can start crossing things off. I’m hoping that this weekend I will be able to accomplish many things that I’d like to. We still haven’t started to organize our house yet. I know, I know. I’ve been mentioning that for 2 weeks now. I need to get my act together and start clearing out the bedroom. I am definitely going to start doing that this weekend. I have to. I’m going to run out of time if I don’t. Anyway, let’s get started on my 18 Week Recap!
18 Weeks Pregnant
Fun Facts About the Baby At 18 Weeks
- Head to rump, the baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and it weighs almost 7 ounces.
- The baby’s blood vessels are visible through its thin skin, and its ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from its head a bit.
- A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around the baby’s nerves, a process that will continue for a year after its born.
- If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
How far along? 18 Weeks & 5 Days
Baby’s size? Bell Pepper
Maternity clothes? Absolutely. I don’t think I’ve put on pair of my regular jeans in quite a while. Maternity pants are a lot more comfortable. I mentioned that at Old Navy I bought 2 tank tops, 1 short sleeve top, and 2 3/4 sleeve shirts. My mom and Melissa also got me 3 really cute shirts for my birthday. I’m looking forward to wearing my new shirts once it gets warmer.
Stretch marks? No, still using lotion every night.
Sleep: It’s still rough. I usually get up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom. I toss and turn a lot to get comfortable. Sometimes it’s hard to get back to sleep. I wake up thirsty all the time.
Best moment this week: Celebrating my 30th Birthday and feeling flutters and butterflies from the baby.
Miss Anything? Having a glass of wine/champagne to celebrate my birthday.
Movement: I’ve been feeling butterflies and flutters. The movements aren’t strong yet and I haven’t felt kicking. I’m hopeful that it will happen soon.
Food cravings: Cheese, Pink Lady Apples, Egg Salad, Decaf Coffee, Chips with cheese melted on it, Popcorn
Anything making you queasy or sick: Sometimes if I smell something fowl at work it will make me feel queasy.
Gender: We find out next week!!!! I can’t wait!!
Labor Signs: No!
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, tired, charlie horses are back and ready to bother me, breakouts on face/body, tightness around belly sometimes
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy for the most part but stressed out lately.
Looking forward to: Finding out the baby’s gender next week and feeling stronger movements.
So there you have my 18 Week Recap. My stomach grew bigger from last week which I expected. Other than that, nothing much really has changed. I’m waiting anxiously to feel kicks. I probably drive Mike and Melissa nuts with how I keep talking about being kicked. I just want to feel it. It’s killing me waiting and waiting. I will wait though until the baby is ready to kick me for the first time.
I am also counting down the moments until I get to see it again on the ultrasound. I swear that is one of the happiest moments of my life when I get to see it on the screen. I’m getting nervous about finding out the gender. It doesn’t bother me either way what it is. I want it to be healthy. If I had a preference, I’d probably say girl and my gut instinct is that it’s a girl but who knows. I’d be very happy if it is a boy too. I just want to know already!! Soon enough! I will post on here after we tell our families.
Alright, well have a lovely Thursday!!
