Fun Finds Friday: Hidden Secrets of Disney World!…

Hi there!  Happy Friday to you!  This week went by so slow for some reason.  Everyday felt like Friday except for today.  Today feels like it should be Saturday already.  In addition to it being Friday, I am so happy this morning!  Want to know why?  There is a moving truck outside!  That means that the people above us are moving!!!  Woohoo!!!  If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you know all about our sleepless days and nights in dealing with these people.  I am so happy to see them leave.  I just hope the people who end up moving in are a million times better and are quiet.  I’m looking forward to the change.  It’s a new year with new people!  Should be a lot better than these past few years of dealing with the current people.

Anyway, what are you doing this weekend?  I actually have off from work on Monday so I will have a nice long weekend.  I could definitely use it.  I’m looking forward to sleeping a lot.  I’ve been excessively tired lately.  I’m also interested in checking out a few stores to see if I can find any cute clothes on clearance.  I think January is typically when stores start to put a lot of the fall/winter clothes on clearance to make room for the spring/summer things.  So I’m looking forward to seeing what is out there.

Let’s move on though.  I am finally catching up on Fun Finds Friday.  I haven’t done one of these in a while and today I am not going to do my typical food, beauty or clothing finds.  Today I am going to feature some of the interesting finds that I read in article I saw on Facebook.  As you know by now, I am a Disney fanatic.  I love all things Disney and I absolutely LOVE Disney World.  It is one of my favorite places in the world to travel to.  Well this article features 33 things that you might not have known about Disney parks.  I’m going to feature a few that I thought were interesting!

Hidden Tunnels – Disney World has tunnels under the parks that allow employees and cast members to move between different areas without guests seeing them.

Gum – None of the shops in Disney World sell gum which is why you never seen it stuck anywhere in the parks.

Trash Cans- There is never a trash can more than 30 steps from where you are in Disney Parks.  This is because Walt Disney did research to see how long people held on to trash before dropping it on the ground and it was apparently 30 steps.

Spreading of Ashes – It is illegal to spread ashes on rides in Disney World but despite this fact several people still attempt to do so.

Smells – Devices called smellitizers can be found all over the parks and emit scents in certain areas to match the surroundings.

Liberty Square – The brownish path in Liberty Square is meant to represent raw sewage that flowed down the streets of Colonial America since indoor plumbing wasn’t invented yet.

Epcot – Epcot was originally designed to be a model community home to 20,000 residents.  The diorama for this vision is seen on the “PeopleMover” ride.

World Showcase – There is actually room for eight additional countries in World Showcase at Epcot.

The World Showcase at Epcot may seem full, but there's actually room for eight additional counties.

Animal Kingdom Sign- On the signs for Animal Kingdom there is a dragon displayed on it and above the entrance there is a dragon head hanging.  This is because there was supposed to be an area called Beastly Kingdom dedicated to mythical animals but this was never created.

You can see a dragon on the signs for Animal Kingdom, and a dragon's head hanging above the front gates. They were there to represent a scrapped area called Beastly Kingdom, which was going to be dedicated to mythical animals.

So there you have some of the most interesting facts about Disney World that I found from the article.  There are 33 of them so definitely check it out and see what other things you may find out that you didn’t know.  I love learning new things about Disney parks.  It makes me want to go back even more.

I have never been to Disneyland and that is place that I would really like to see some day.  As for now, I am perfectly content with Disney World!  Have you ever been to Disney World or Disneyland?  What is your favorite ride?

Have a great Friday!

  1. Have a great weekend! My husband and I are going skiing in PA this weekend, even though I do not think I will be doing any skiing. :-)

  2. I’ve only been to Disney World once, and that was in high school for cheerleading nationals. I’d like to go now that I’m of drinking age as I hear the wine & food festivals they do are awesome!

This weekend Dan and I are heading down to my mom’s so he can finally meet her and one of my sisters! I’m excited/nervous!

  3. Disney is pretty much in my back yard. My boyfriend did an internship there last year and we are annual passholders. As much as I want to move from Florida, I don’t know if I can move from Disney.

  4. I’m so glad your old neighbors moved out! Hopefully your new ones will be GREAT!

I didn’t know a single one of these facts!! The no-gum thing and trash cans thing is super smart! Disney knows what’s up!
