A Change Of A Favorite…

Hi there!  Happy Thursday to you!  I apologize for not posting yesterday.  I just didn’t really have anything to update on.  So I decided to take the day off from blogging but I am back and ready to go now.  I’m so glad that it’s almost the weekend.  I’m exhausted.  I didn’t sleep well last night.  I tossed and turned the entire night.  It was awful.  I think maybe I slept all of 3-4 hours.  So annoying!  I hate when that happens.  Of course I fell fast asleep about 10 minutes before I had to wake up.  Isn’t that always what happens?  It’s so hard to get back to sleep after you are woken up.  How do you go back to sleep when you are having trouble sleeping?  Any tips?

So yesterday, Mike and I had some errands to run after work.  We had to go to ShopRite because I didn’t realize that they are now taking competitor store coupons.  Well I left a $10 off $20 purchase at home when we went shopping on Sunday.  So we went back with our coupon and receipt and they honored it!  I was so afraid that they wouldn’t.  So we were given $10 back.  It was great!  On my next shopping trip this weekend, I will be sure to take that coupon with me.  A local store sent out a few $10 off coupons which is awesome!  So I definitely want to use that.  It brought our over $60 bill down to $14 again!  I am happy and can deal with that.  I hope my couponing can continue.

Once we were done, we decided to just get dinner since we were already out.  I suggested Red Robin.  Red Robin is one of my favorite places to get a turkey burger or regular burger when I was eating beef.  I also LOVE their fries because it’s bottomless french fries which is something that I love.  You can never have too many of their fries.

When we sat down, I noticed something different instantly.  They got a new menu.  Their normal menu was a long flyer with items on the front and back and now it’s a spiral book.  I think I liked their old design better.  I know it’s not a big deal with the menu design but now they changed the way they put their food on the plate.

The burgers are now served on a plate with a weird french fry holder.  It used to be served in a basket and the burger was half wrapped in paper.  It was a staple of Red Robin.  I think the whole having your meal served in a basket and your burger half wrapped in paper is what made the experience unique.  The way that it is displayed on the plate now makes it look like they are trying to be more fancy than what they are.  I prefer things the simple way especially when it comes to Red Robin.

I know it’s not a big deal, it’s a restaurant but it’s just bringing me to the point of the fact that I don’t like change.  It’s hard for me to adapt to change well.  I think it’s hard for anyone to adapt to change.  I’m still trying to adapt with my new job.  It’s been difficult especially in the aspect of making friends.  I’ve never had such a difficult time making friends then I do now at my new job.  I really don’t think it’s me.  I think it’s just the culture of my team and how those people are.

I try my best to talk and bring up conversation but sometimes it gets nowhere.  That is a change for me.  At my old job, I had a group of friends there and even people who weren’t in my group, spoke to one another.  My team was friendly with one another and I felt comfortable around them.  I know that didn’t come instantly since I was there for 6.5 years.  I think it’s just going to take time.  Sometimes it is lonely not having someone close to talk to.  I’m hoping that it will come in time.

So that brings up my question to you, do you adapt to change well?  How long does it usually take you to adjust?

  1. I’ve had trouble sleeping (off and on) for years, and it can be so frustrating. One thing I’ve found that really helps on those nights is to stop trying. The tossing & turning just wakes me up even more, so I’ll read a couple chapters of a book until I’m tired again.

Hope you can get some rest tonight!

    • I’m sorry you have trouble sleeping. That is the worst. That is good advice. I was thinking about turning the tv on or reading a magazine but I didn’t want to wake Mike up. Little did I know, he was up and tossing and turning the whole night too. So I should have done that. Oh well. Next time ;)

  2. Sorry work is so lonely for you right now! That’s rough. :( I hope other people there begin to be more friendly!
