Hi there! I hope your week is off to a good start. Happy Wednesday! I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. This week seems to be going by pretty quick which is always a good thing. I still haven’t caught up on sleep. So I’m looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing this weekend. My dvr is getting pretty full too. I could use a nice, relaxing day of watching my dvr.
Anyway, let’s get back to where I left off on my last post of part one of our wedding anniversary weekend. After watching the laser light show, we went back to the hotel and anxiously went to bed awaiting our first wedding anniversary. When I woke up on Saturday, I kept remincing about how that morning went on the day of our wedding. It brought back and ton of feelings and made me feel sad that our wedding is over but it made me happy that we have been married for a year.
We got ready and decided to go to a deli in Margate where Mike and I grew up going as children. Mike went there more often than I have been there. They gave huge portions for breakfast and sadly I forgot to take a picture. The omlette I ordered was enough for about 3 people to share. There was no way I could finish that! It came with homefries, and a bagel with cream cheese. It was pretty reasonably priced for everything it came with. The weird thing was while sitting there music was playing and the song, “I Won’t Give Up,” by Jason Mraz starting playing. That song is in our wedding video. So we both looked at each other and instantly smiled. It was a great start to our wedding anniversary.
Once we were done breakfast, we went back to the hotel room and changed and went to the beach. We sat on the beach for a while. It was actually not that crowded. The beach was filled though with bachelorette parties. That was a little annoying with the yelling and drinking but I tuned it out by sitting there reading a magazine and feeling the sun on my shoulders. Once we were done at the beach, we went back to the room and celebrated with our cake!
We first cut a slice of our “real” wedding cake. I put “real” because as I’ve explained numerous times, it was not the design that I gave the baker at all. He pretty much did what he wanted. I was so disgusted even looking at that cake and it looked like a mess!! I don’t know what happened to it. We both cut a piece and took a bite and I swear I almost threw up! It was AWFUL! I had to spit my piece out and rinse my mouth out. It was THAT bad. It was completely freezer burned. It was just a terrible experience. It made me happy that I decided to order another cake of what SHOULD have been our wedding cake. Now keep in mind, this a cheaper version of what it should have looked like because I didn’t want to start spending $50, $60, or $70 on a cake for just Mike and I. I am happy though with how it turned out!
The cake tasted absolutely fantastic!! I am not a huge fondant fan but the actual cake and the frosting was so good! I think I might have found my new favorite bakery! I’ve already decided that I want them to make my 30th birthday cake! I love that we got to use our special forks too! It made it that much more special.
We enjoyed our cake while sipping champagne out of our toasting flutes and watching our wedding video.
It was so special sharing those moments with Mike and I found myself tearing up while watching the video. It was such a special day and I am so thankful for every second of it and the memories and pictures that I have to last a lifetime.
When we were done watching the video, we picked up tickets for a show that we were going to see for dinner and then we got ready for our reservations. We had our anniversary dinner at the Knife and Fork Inn. The Knife and Fork Inn is an Atlantic City staple. It was established in 1912 and has been there ever since! It is a landmark in Atlantic City and it should be visited at least once in your lifetime because the food is just that good!
We started off our meal with Lobster Spring Rolls.
I ordered a Crabcake for my entree.
Mike went with filet mignon.
Since the meals were ala carte, we decided to order two side dishes. Once I saw brussels sprouts on the menu, I knew they were coming to our table!
I have to say the two side dishes were the BEST part of my meal! The brussels sprouts were phenomenal!!! They were roasted in truffle oil and then Parmesan cheese was sprinkled on top of it and it was served with a dipping sauce. I could NOT get enough of them! I literally could have just ate an entire plate of them myself. It was the best I’ve ever had them prepared.
The mashed potatoes were heavenly too! They were creamy but maintained the potato flavor. It had a buttery taste and was just so delicious. My crabcake was delicious as well. It was an amazing food experience and I found myself dreaming about going back there in the future. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try this restaurant! If you are a brussels sprouts fan, you need to dine at the Knife and Fork Inn! You will LOVE them!!
After dinner, we went over to Resorts Casino to see a Diva’s Live show. It was pretty much men dressed as famous female celebrities. It was quite entertaining and the man playing Joan Rivers was hysterical! I recommend checking it out.
We had a wonderful first wedding anniversary and I can’t wait for many more to come! It’s hard to believe that we have been married for a year and in November we will have been together for 8 years. Time really does fly!
Are you a fan of brussels sprouts? What is your favorite casino (can be AC or Vegas)?
Have a great Wednesday!
