Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend and I apologize for not posting yesterday. I had all intentions of posting and then I was having trouble with editing pictures and adding them to the blog so I decided to just skip posting altogether. I had a great weekend of celebrating so I’ll get started!
On Friday after work, Mike picked up the cake that I ordered. I had ordered a what should have been replica of the top-tier of our wedding cake. As I’ve mentioned numerous times, the baker from our wedding was awful. He completely disregarded the cake design that I gave him, along with the swatch of the bridesmaids dress color. The cake looked nothing like I had planned for and he felt nothing about doing something wrong. In fact, he proceeded to scream at me on the top of his lungs, an hour before I walked down the aisle. Nice, right? Needless to say, I wanted to do our anniversary right. So I contacted a bakery and gave them a picture and they made me a replica of what should have been the top of our cake. Now, it’s not an exact replica because if it would have been, it would have been ridiculously expensive. So I went with the cheaper version replica.
Once Mike got home, we packed the cars and went on our way to Atlantic City! We stayed at my dad’s timeshare, where I stayed with my bridesmaids for my bachelorette party last year. We actually made pretty good time getting there.
The room was nice and I was glad that we had a kitchen so we could bring our real top of wedding cake, the replica, our toasting flutes, cake server and knife, drinks and our wedding video to watch due to having a dvd player. It all worked out great.
We were originally going to go to the beach when we arrived but we both really didn’t feel like it. So instead, we walked on the boardwalk and walked along the beach. We went into a few casinos to just look around and then we decided to come back to the room and get ready for our dinner reservations.
For my meal, I decided to order Bucatini Abruzzi (Roasted chicken breast with caramelized onions in a marsala cream sauce served over bucatini pasta).
My dinner was fantastic!! I absolutely loved it. It tasted very similar to chicken marsala which I love. The pasta was thicker than spaghetti but not as thick as fettuccine. I think bucatini might be my new favorite kind of pasta. I felt bad leaving a lot of my meal but it was way too big to finish. I would have brought it back to the room but we weren’t going back right away. I highly recommend this restaurant. The casino is an older one but this restaurant was amazing and it wasn’t too badly priced either. I would definitely go back!
After dinner, we walked along the boardwalk and decided to stop for a drink at a beach bar that we saw.
When we were done our drink, we were able to catch a light show at the old convention center!! It was so cool! They projected these images on the front of the building.
This show went along with music and it showed different genres of music and a little touch back to Atlantic City with the Miss America portion. Did you know the Miss America pageant is coming back to Atlantic City?! I think it should! That is where it belongs.
It was nice to just sit outside and feel the ocean breeze while watching this light show. I was perfectly content. I am a not a club person especially after the club experience on my bachelorette party. We didn’t go to any clubs while we were in Atlantic City. We found other things to do that were fun.
Everything that you saw in this post is what we did on Friday. Our wedding anniversary was on Saturday. So I am going to recap that tomorrow because it was very special and we did a lot of sentimental things. I want to take my time with my post and make it separate from this one. I can’t wait to share how the cake looked! Stay tuned for tomorrow to come back and see!
Have you ever been to Atlantic City? Are you a club person?
Have a great Tuesday!
