With a Side of Hope

Hi there!  Happy Tuesday to you!  I don’t know about you but I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  I’m just not in a great mood today.  Maybe the weather has something to do with it?  I don’t know.  I hope that as the day goes on my mood will be lifted.  I know I will be happy once I leave work and venture back home to relax.  I’m also really tired so maybe that is it as well.  I didn’t sleep very well last night.  So I think I’ll try going to bed even earlier tonight.  We shall see if that helps.  Let’s talk about something happy though!

I recently received the entire line of new candy from a company called UNREAL.  I was given the chance to try their candy and say what I think.

I am a big fan of chocolate and candy so I was real excited about this!  Have you heard of Unreal candy?  The mission of Unreal Candy is to unjunk America’s favorite candy.  The company was started by a father and son.  I like the fact that it is a family owned business.

The main points of Unreal Candy is the fact that none of their candy contains the following items:

• No corn syrup
• No partially hydrogenated oil
• No artificial ingredients
• No GMO’s
• No preservatives
• Low Glycemic Index

I find that to be really expressive in regards to candy.  I am sick of companies putting a ton of preservatives into food.  They have no idea what kind of effect that can take on someone’s body.  I like that Unreal prides themselves on unjunking the candy we all know and love.

When I saw the candy, I knew there were two items that I had to try first.

My favorites of all types of candy.  The first chocolate that I tried were the peanut butter cups.

Peanut Butter Cups

The Peanut Butter Cups are called Unreal 77.  The calories in this package are 190 and there is 11 grams of sugar and in a Reese’s there are 210 calories and 21 grams of sugar.  If you look at those stats and compare them to a grapefruit, a grapefruit has 9 grams of sugar.  So you can see how much Unreal dramatically took out the sugar from this product.  The question is though, how does it taste?  To me, I thought this tasted better than a Reese’s peanut butter cup and that is saying a lot coming from me.  I love chocolate and peanut butter. The chocolate and peanut butter tasted so much fresher to me for some reason.  The peanut butter was so smooth and creamy.  I really enjoyed the peanut butter cups.

The next product I tried was the Candy Coated Chocolates with Peanuts.

A package of this candy contains 200 calories, and 16 grams of sugar.  In their competitor which is M&M’s with Peanuts, contains 250 calories and 25 grams of sugar!  If you compare it to an orange, it contains 12 grams of sugar.  So the sugar was cut dramatically.  I loved this candy!  The peanuts tasted fresh and had great crunch to it.  The chocolate coating was great.  I was really impressed by these candies!

Another candy that was included was the Candy Coated Chocolate.

This candy contains 190 calories and 19 grams of sugar.  This is comparable to plain M&M’s, which contain 230 calories and 31 grams of sugar.  If you look at a peach, it contains 12 grams of sugar.  So again, the sugar content is really brought down with the Unreal candy.

They have two more products to their line.  The next one is Chocolate Caramel Nougat.

This candy contains 170 calories and 19 grams of sugar.  The candy most comparable to this one is a Milky Way that contains 270 calories and 35 grams of sugar.  If you look at an apple for sugar content, it contains 19 grams of sugar.  So this candy bar contains the same amount of sugar as an apple!  Mike tried this bar and loved it!  He said you couldn’t even tell that it wasn’t a Milky Way.  He said it actually tasted better and fresher like I have been saying about all of the products.

The last product I was sent was the Chocolate Caramel Peanuts Nougat bar.

This bar contains 200 calories and 17 grams of sugar.  This bar is similar to a Snickers that contains 280 calories and 30 grams of sugar.  If you compare this to a pear, it contains 17 grams of sugar.  So this candy bar has the same amount of sugar that a pear has.  I find that so interesting!  Mike tried this bar as well and loved it!  He said the peanuts tasted fresh and there was just the right amount of caramel.  He loved it.

If you are curious about trying out Unreal candy for yourself, you can check their website to see which stores near you sell their products.  It looks like you can find their products in CVS, and Target.  There might be other stores as well.  Just check the website before you go to the store.

I was really impressed by these candies!  I don’t know why I would ever eat another brand of candy again when I can eat Unreal which is so much better for me.  I like to know there is a company out there that is trying to make candy healthier for us to enjoy.  Plus, the candy tastes great which is a huge thing for me!  You don’t want the flavors compromised.  I am so thankful I was able to try out Unreal!  Thank you again!
