A Relaxation & Movie Filled Weekend!…

Hi there!  Happy Monday to you!  I hope you had a good weekend!  What did you do?  My weekend was filled with much relaxation and movie watching.  I didn’t really do much this weekend but I will recap everything.  I finally decided to join the Pinterest band wagon!  I was avoiding joining while I was planning my wedding because I felt way too overwhelmed when casually browsing the site.  Now since my wedding is over, I finally decided to join and I’m loving it so far.  I’m still overwhelmed of course but I’m having fun creating boards and seeing what is out there.  Follow me!  My username is: withasideofhope.  You can find a link to my Pinterest underneath my twitter feed on the right side of the pane on my blog!

Now I’ll get back to the weekend.  So on Friday, Mike and I decided to go out to dinner since I had a coupon for us to use.  We decided to go to the Olive Garden.  We had to wait for a while to be seated and once we were we both decided to order soup.  I haven’t been eating salads since all of my stomach issues.  I cannot even tell you the last time I had a salad.  I miss it dearly.  I ordered a soup that I wasn’t a huge fan of at all.  I hated it in fact.  It was quite creamy and bothered my stomach.  I regret ordering that.  For my meal, I ordered Chicken Scampi.

I removed all of the peppers and onions since they destroy my stomach.  It was alright.  I wasn’t that impressed with it.  I was regretting ordering pasta.  I really wanted Chicken Marsala and I should have just went with my gut and ordered that.  Oh well.  Next time.  Mike and I knew that we had to order dessert.  They had our favorite dessert available for a limited time.  Pumpkin Cheesecake!

The BEST Pumpkin Cheesecake!

If you haven’t tried the pumpkin cheesecake from the Olive Garden you are missing out big time!  It’s so good.  I’m not a huge fan of cheesecake but I do like it when the cheesecake flavor is masked by another flavor.  Do you like cheesecake?  What is your favorite kind?

Once we got home, we saw that 27 Dresses was on tv so we spent the rest of the evening watching that.  That is one of my favorite movies and yes I own it but I always manage to watch it on tv instead of watching my own copy.

On Saturday, I woke up early and went over the local hospital to get blood work drawn for my testing that I am having done tomorrow.  Luckily, I didn’t have to wait long which is extremely rare!  I definitely lucked out big time.  Once I got home, I waited for Mike to get home and we ran some errands.  We went to Target and it was mobbed in there.  The shelves were pretty much cleared off too.  We went home and ended up watching more movies on tv.  We watched 13 Going On 30, and Mean Girls.  We finally decided that we should make dinner.  So I had a turkey and grainy mustard panini with some french fries that we baked.

Then we settled down and started writing out our wedding thank you notes.  I know.  We are super late in writing these. There was a mix-up with our mail and it took forever for them to get to us.  We are hoping to have them sent out by the end of this week.  I feel so bad that it took us so long.  They also didn’t give us enough envelopes.  So we need to purchase those now too.  So frustrating!  We wrote out our thank you’s while watching yet another movie.  This time it was Wedding Crashers.  We really did watch a lot of movies this weekend. That was okay by me.  I needed relaxation.

On Sunday, I picked up Melissa and my mom and we went out and ran errands.  Mike and I had absolutely nothing to eat in our house so I needed to stock up on items.  We didn’t want to get too much last weekend because we were afraid of losing power in the storm.  So I needed to get everything yesterday.  I’m glad that Melissa and my mom were there to help.  It was also nice to see Oliver.  He got a haircut and I completely forgot to take a picture of him.  He looks very handsome with his new do.

I decided to keep things light for dinner last night because it was my last solid meal until Tuesday afternoon.  I am going for an endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow to finally get to the bottom of my stomach/Crohn’s Disease issues.  I am dreading doing the prep today.  I am actually leaving work early so that I can start the prep for tomorrow.  It’s not going to be a fun day/night by any means but if it will help me not be in pain anymore, I’m all for it.  Please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow.  I could use all the good luck that I can get.

My dinner from last night (two twice-over eggs, a baked potato, and a pumpkin English Muffin)

I am only allowed to have liquids today and orange jello.  So I’m going to have orange jello for breakfast.  Ick.  Not exactly the ideal breakfast in my opinion.  I am not a huge fan of jello to begin with.  I’m allowed to drink coffee as long as it’s black and tea.  I can have ice pops as long as they are not red or purple.  I am also allowed to drink anything clear.  I am stocked up at home and for now, I will stick to water, coffee and tea.  I just keep telling myself, “this too shall pass.”  This is going to help me feel better and finally get to a resolution after suffering for almost a year.  It will all be worth it in the end.

That is all I have for you today.  I hope you have a lovely Monday!  Don’t forget to vote tomorrow!

  1. Ooh, I didn’t know Olive Garden had pumpkin cheesecake! I haven’t been there in awhile, but that’s another reason to visit soon. ;-)

Hey, think of it this way – writing out the thank-you notes now gives you another chance to relive your wedding!

Good luck tomorrow. I’ll be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way.
