A Heatwave Filled Weekend!…

Hi there!  Happy Monday to you!  I hope your Monday is off to a better start than mine.  My day was going great until I accidentally locked my desk here at work with my keys and purse and everything I need inside of my desk!  GR!!  I can’t believe I did that.  I must have locked it over the weekend but my bottom drawer wasn’t closed all the way and sure enough I pushed it in and locked everything up.   So I know have no access to anything in my drawers until facilities get here which probably won’t be until 9am or so.  Boo!  Not the way you want to start your Monday morning at all.

I hope you had a great weekend!  What did you do this weekend?  It was ridiculously hot where I live.  It was beyond the point of awful especially on Saturday.  It was just horrible to even stand outside for 5 minutes.  You would be completely drenched in sweat.  It was quite gross actually!  I will get back to the beginning of the weekend though before I talk about the heat.

On Friday when I got home from work, I got myself together and then went over to Ulta for my free style and blow-out.  The girl actually did a great job.  My hair was super straight.  I just hate it because it’s so long.  I seriously cannot stand wearing my hair this long.  I can’t wait until I can chop it as soon as we get home from our honeymoon.  I’m debating cutting it like Aria (Lucy Hale) on Pretty Little Liars.  I love her hair.

I hope I can pull that off.  I think it’s super cute.  I do have a wedding that I am a bridesmaid in, in September and another wedding to attend in October but I cannot keep my hair this long.  I’m sure I can figure out something cute to do with it despite the length.

So after my hair was done, I went home and just spent the night relaxing.  I watched stuff on the dvr and I worked heavily on a project that we are doing for our rehearsal dinner.   I spent over 3 hours straight working on that thing and it’s done!  I’m so happy about that because it was stressing me out.  I think it will go over great at our rehearsal!  I’m excited for it.

On Saturday, I woke up early because I can’t seem to sleep past 7 am on the weekends anymore.  I guess because I get up at 5am everyday, my body is used to it?  I don’t know.  I got myself together and went over to Melissa’s house.  We decided to check out a dress boutique and see if there was anything there.  We then stopped at a local cupcake place and I picked up two cupcakes to try.  I will get to more about that in a bit.  We went back to her house and hung out in the air conditioning for a while.  Oliver didn’t want to move from sitting on the vent.  He hated when I brought him outside to do his business.  I can only imagine how hot he felt with all of that fur.

I went back to our house and got ready for Mike’s cousins bbq.  She lives down the street from my work so we can a long drive to get there.  It was sweltering in her house.  Her air conditioning wasn’t working that great for some reason.  We stayed for a little while but we decided to leave because we were both sweating and she had no where for us to sit because of how many people were there.  It was nice but we just needed to lay down and get into air conditioning.

Our lights started flickering when we got home because a storm rolled in.  They went off and turned back on a bunch of times but luckily, they stayed on the rest of the night. We met up with my bridesmaid, Courtney and her husband/groomsman Ian.  We decided to go to Red Robin for dinner.

Turkey Burger! Love their bottomless fries

I love Red Robin’s fries! They are heavenly.  So good.  After dinner, we went back to Courtney’s parents house, where her and Ian have been staying until their house they bought is done being remodeled.  I had a nice time talking to her and catching up on things.  I think all of my bridesmaids are getting excited for my bachelorette party next weekend. I can’t believe it’s next weekend already!  I’m super excited too!  I cannot wait to let my hair down and dance.  I haven’t danced in such a long time.  I’m really looking forward to it.

On Sunday, I spent the entire morning glued to the computer trying to finish the song list for our reception.  It’s difficult picking out songs that you want to hear.  I’m finally done though!  I just need to go over who is speaking during our reception and I can finally submit everything to the DJ and that will be done with.  Whew!  My checklist is slowly getting smaller and smaller. It feels great!  The next big thing I need to deal with is the program for our ceremony.  I don’t know why it’s giving me so much anxiety but my goal is to have it done by this weekend.

Mike and I finally decided to go to Target and to the supermarket.  I got a few items for the bathroom baskets for our wedding at Target but I really need Melissa to go with me.  She is great at picking out deals and I need all the help I can get.

For dinner, we decided to make baked Chicken Parmesan with pasta.

My dinner

For dessert, I had my smores cupcake that I didn’t get a chance to eat on Saturday.

S’mores cupcake!

This cupcake was fantastic!  I think this place is going to be my new favorite cupcake place. It stinks that they are super expensive though.  This cupcake was worth it though!

Well that concludes my weekend.  I hope you have a great Monday!

  1. That cupcake looks amazing! Where did you get it? I must go! :)

  2. You totally amaze me how you can do so much in such a short time. It’s like you do a week’s worth of things in 2 days. Make sure you get to relax sometimes and take care of yourself. <3

    • Thank you, Jane! <3 I try to do as much as I can in a short period of time. Letting things go, stress me out so much. I do need to try and take some time to myself.

  3. That cupcake looks inccredible!

I have a serious addiction to red robin. It’s bad for my overall health, but the whiskey river chicken sandwich is worth being fat for.

  4. That cupcake looks amazing. :-)
