Turkey Caesar Burgers & Memorial Day Weekend!…

Hi there!  I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!  What did you do this weekend?  The weather was somewhat nice this weekend.  There were moments of rain and moments of sun.  It was extremely hot and humid.  The heat and humidity have stayed.  I don’t mind the heat.  It’s the humidity that I cannot stand.  It makes my hair not want to cooperate at all!  Anyway, I really hope everyone had a nice weekend and thank you to those who serve our country and for all you do.  It is very much appreciated.

I’ll go back to Friday to catch you up on my weekend.  On Friday, I ended up working my normal hours instead of leaving early.  I’m glad that I did because I had plenty of work to do and now I have even more work to do today.  At least I’ll be busy though and I enjoy that.  I came home and relaxed with Mike for a bit.  I then when over to Melissa and my mom’s house. They were cooking up some shrimp with rice for dinner.

The dinner was really good!  The shrimp was actually frozen shrimp that came with a seasoning packet.  It tasted delicious. It had a garlic flavor and paired well with rice.  Melissa is good at making rice.  Whenever I go to make it, it turns out hard and tough.  She cooked it perfectly.

When we were done dinner, Melissa and I decided to drive to Princeton to go to Triumph Brewery for drinks to start off the long weekend.  We found a small high-top table by the bar.  So we sat there for a bit.  The atmosphere was pretty beat to be honest.  We both ordered a majorly overpriced drink.  Melissa ordered strawberry vodka with sprite.  It tasted delicious!  I opted for a glass of Cabernet.  I know we were at a brewery but I just can’t drink beer now plus most of their beers aren’t that great.  We went for the atmosphere.  We decided that we had enough.

So we then ventured to Houlihans where we encountered a rude bartender!  Did he not want a good tip from us?  I do tip well for good service.  Melissa opted for a glass of Moscato, one of our new favorite glasses of wine.  I decided on a SkinnyGirl drink.  It was so sour that it eventually gave me heartburn.  Fail.  I did have fun though.  Melissa and I had a great time getting drinks together.  It was a shame that the places were beat and the drinks weren’t that great.  Oh well.  At least we had fun together!

On Saturday, Mike and I got up early and went to our venue to take a look at a sample centerpiece for our wedding.  I was so incredibly nervous.  Flowers absolutely make the affair and if they don’t look good, it could be a huge disaster.  I’m going to talk more about this tomorrow for Wedding Talk Wednesday.  So I am going to leave you in suspense, wondering if they turned out the way that I wanted them too.  You will find out soon enough.

After checking out the flowers, we went to a few other places where I needed to run some errands for our wedding.  I am happy to say that we finally picked out the tuxedos!  I will also talk more about that tomorrow.  I am very happy with our selection. I think the men, especially Mike are going to look fabulous and will tie everything in together with the bridesmaids.  We made some great decisions!

When we were done, we went home and relaxed before picking up Melissa to go to Ruby Tuesday for dinner.  I had a 25% off coupon which really does come in handy!  There was a short wait before we got seated.  We ended up getting a booth in the bar area which I was happy about.  I decided to order a crabcake with spaghetti squash and a baked potato.

My dinner

It was really good!  I like Ruby Tuesday’s food.  They have a lot to offer and now they have a lot of healthier options.  I was glad that we came in when we did because there was a long wait once we left.  We all went back to our place.  I showed Melissa some of the wedding items that I purchased and then we decided to go to the movies because she had free passes.  We saw “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”  I thought it was actually pretty good.  It was a very funny movie!  I found myself actually laughing out loud!  A lot of the actors and actresses in the movie had great on-screen chemistry.  I’m glad that we ended up seeing it.  Melissa and I really liked it.  Did you see any movies this weekend?

On Sunday, I was not feeling well at all.  I didn’t end up getting out of my pajamas until almost 3pm.  My stomach was absolutely not a happy camper.  I took medicine and jumped in the shower and prayed for the best.  I was finally starting to feel better.  Melissa asked if I wanted to go to a few stores with her so I said sure!  We went to Plato’s Closet and Express!  We both ended up getting really good deals and some cute items.

I went back to our house and got ready to go out to dinner with my co-worker/bridesmaid, Tarra and her fiance, Sean.  The four of us have double dated a few times.  They recently moved closer to us and it was finally a time that worked for both of us to hang out.  We decided to go to Red Robin.

They just put a hummus plate on the menu.  So Mike and I ordered that to share.

I completely forgot to take a picture of my dinner but I ordered a turkey burger and it was very good.  It had a lot of flavor.  I was happy with my burger.  After, we went to a local bar for a cocktail and then called it a night.  It was fun to hang out.  I am also a bridesmaid in her wedding which is a month after us.  It’s crazy busy wedding central!

On Sunday, Mike and I went to the supermarket and I decided to try a recipe that I saw on Courtney of Sweet Tooth Sweet Life’s blog a while back.  It was originally for Chicken Burgers but I used Ground Turkey instead because it was cheaper for us to buy.

Turkey Caesar Burgers (adapted from Courtney’s recipe)

1lb. ground turkey
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
3 tablespoons light Caesar dressing
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Combine first eight ingredients and mix well. Form into four patties, creating a slight dent in the center of the patty; refrigerate about 30 minutes. Grill over medium-high heat, 6-8 minutes on each side.

Ingredients mixed together

4 patties ready to be grilled!

I thought these burgers were good!  They were nice and moist.  They didn’t have a huge Caesar flavor.  It was a hint of it but it was just right.  Mike really liked them too!  It was something different to enjoy.  I think it might have been overload for my belly but you live and your learn.

So there you have my weekend!  It was nice and relaxing.  I’m hoping this week goes by quickly so we can get to the next weekend.  I could use some more sleep.

Have a great Tuesday!

  1. Those burgers sound delish! I’ll have to break out some of the meat in my freezer this week and give them a shot (before I am grill-less starting June 15).

  2. Oliver is SO CUTE! Just looking at him makes me smile! :)

I’ve been wanting to see “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” ever since the first previews started popping up. I’m a huge sucker for anything related to pregnancy and babies. Now you have me wanting to watch it even more!

I’m excited to hear about the centerpieces in tomorrow’s post … and to see you at the event tomorrow night! Yay!!

    • Aw! He is really cute. I love that white little furry man :)

It’s such a good movie! Me too! I love any movie related to weddings, friends, pregnancy and babies too. We are such sappy romantics :)
