Wedding Talk Wednesday: Some Wedding Purchases…

Hi there!  Happy Wednesday to you!  We are halfway through the week!  I’m happy about that!  We actually have an early dismissal at my work on Friday.  I think I’m going to work the whole day though which is really only one hour longer than when everyone else would be leaving.  I have enough work so I’d rather just stay and get it all done especially since we have off on Monday.  So next week will be a shortened week.  I’m telling you, this weather is terrible!  Today it’s really muggy and foggy outside.  There was no hope for my hair this morning.  I just threw it up in a ponytail.  It’s way too much for it to be down or to do anything else with it.

So today is Wedding Talk Wednesday.  For today, I wanted to show you some purchases that I have made for our wedding.  I’ve received quite a few things but I’m not sure who is reading.  I don’t want people who are coming to our wedding to see everything before the day of.  So I’m only going to post scattered things that won’t give too much away.  Before I get to that, I’ll talk about some updates.  On Saturday, we are going to our venue to check out a sample centerpiece.  I am so nervous for this!  I just hope that she was able to get my vision and that it will look like the pictures I’ve show her and what we have discussed.  I’m really nervous.  I think flowers are such a huge part of a wedding and really set the vibe and tone for the room.  I hope they are what we decided upon.  I will be sure to post pictures of that.  Then next week, our venue is having an event where we can see everything set up and taste food, meet vendors, etc.  So that should be interesting.  We don’t need to meet vendors but I would like to taste some of the food that we have selected to serve.  I will be sure to recap that as well.

Now, onto my purchases.  I mentioned a few weeks ago that I bought two bathing suits from Victoria’s Secret for our honeymoon and then neglected to post pictures.  Well I took some this morning.  I absolutely love them. They are very flattering.

The first one is something that I wouldn’t normally wear but I figure, you only go on your honeymoon once, I might as well live it up!  It’s a really cute suit on.  I’m actually excited to wear a bathing suit for once in my life.  I think having a cute suit makes it all worth while.

I also mentioned that over the weekend, I returned a dress to Express that I didn’t like and ended up buying some things in return. I got a pair of jeans.  I’m not going to post pictures of that as we all know what jeans look like.  I am obsessed with this tank top that I bought.  I would like to go back and get another color.

Cute gray shorts

I figure the white sequin tank top and these gray shorts would look super cute with the silver sparkly Badgley Mischka shoes.  I am planning on wearing that exact outfit one night on our honeymoon for dinner.

I also ended up getting my wedding shoes!  These are the shoes that I originally said that I was going to buy last summer when I tried them on at David’s Bridal.  I wanted heels that were comfortable that I could wear the entire night and these heels are very comfortable.  I love the bow on them and I got them in plum so that they match the bridesmaids dresses. I am a fan of wearing colored shoes under the wedding gown for a pop of color.  What is your opinion on the bride wearing colored shoes?  Fan or no?

Love them <3

I’m happy with my purchase and I’m glad that I went along with these shoes.  I wanted a higher heel but I don’t think I’d manage walking in them for so many hours.  The thing is that Mike is 6’5″ so I will never be even in height with him with any type of shoes I wear.  I’m 5’3.5″.  So these shoes will most likely make me like 5’6″ or around there.  I think that is fine.  I just don’t want to look like Mike’s little sister.  That is how I feel when I wear flats or flip-flops around him.  ;)

The last item that I want to share today are our yamakas.  I love the color and I’m really glad that I chose dark gray.  I think it will look really nice on all of the men.

I’m pleased with how they turned out.  It was a long process to get them and I’m just thankful that I have them and they are ready to go!  One less thing to worry about.  I’m hoping to get a lot of diy things done this weekend.  I’ve still been putting them off.  I cannot put them off much longer.  So I’m planning on getting a lot of it done.

I’m waiting for a sample invitation to be sent to our house.  Our graphic designer did a great job with the invites.  I sent them to the printing company for a sample to be printed and now I’m just awaiting them to arrive so I can order all of the invites and get them sent out!  Once that happens, it will feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder.  Invitations are stressful.

So those are my wedding updates for this week.  I’m sure I will have a lot more as we get closer and closer to August.  I can’t believe how close it is!  It’s crazy to think that it will be here before we know it.

Have a great Wednesday!

  1. Those shoes are beautiful! I love the idea of adding a pop of color, and also the thought of tying it in with the bridesmaids’ dresses, since of course the bridesmaids are such an important part of your big day, too. Everything (and everyone) will look so lovely together. Eek, I’m excited for you! Also, you just reminded me: must make sure my aunt RSVP’d for the venue event next week!

    • Thank you so much! :) Me too! I think it will make for cute pictures. Thank you so much, Shari! I’m getting nervous and excited all at the same time. :) Yes! I cannot wait to see you next week!!! It’s going to be fun!

  2. I’m a big fan of colored shoes for brides, especially since if I ever become one you can guarantee I’ll be wearing some shade of blue for my shoes. :) The pink bikini is SO adorable!

  3. Such a cute short/tank outfit! One of my favorite things to wear in the summer. I’ll have to check out express!

  4. I love your colored shoes! I think it looks great when the bride’s dress matches the bridesmaids.
