Larabar Uber!…

Hi there!  Happy Thursday!  I’m so glad that this week is almost over.  It’s been quite stressful and I haven’t been feeling too good with my stomach this week.  So I’ll be glad to see it go.  In happier news though, today is exactly 3 months until we get married!  3 months!  Where has the time gone?  I seriously cannot believe that it’s only 3 months away.  That is a good and bad thing.  It’s good because I am excited to finally call Mike my husband but it’s bad because I still have so much work to do on things.  I better get a move on!

Yesterday after work, I went over to Melissa’s house.  I knew she had a very stressful and tiring day at work and needed someone to talk to.  We ended up talking and spending time together for several hours.  Sometimes it’s those moments that make you realize how blessed you are for certain people in you life.  I’m really glad that I was able to sit and talk with her.  I know that when I have a really stressful day, it helps to talk to someone who can relate and understand.  Sometimes you just need to vent.  It doesn’t matter if the other person says anything just as long as they listen.  When you are stressed do you vent or do you hold everything inside?

I try to vent as much as possible but sometimes I am guilty of keep things inside.  I will keep them inside for so long until  I can’t take it anymore and then I explode.  I’m trying to get better at that.  I sometimes don’t like talking about my feelings though.  It’s hard for me.  I’m trying to work on it.  It’s not good to keep everything inside until it explodes.

After we talked for a while, I went home and Mike made dinner for both of us.  It was more of breakfast for dinner.  I really wanted eggs for dinner because they are gentle on my stomach.  So eggs are what we had!

I love how fried eggs taste.  I like when the yolk is completely cooked and the edges of the egg are crispy and brown.  Mike cooked it perfectly last night.  I don’t know why I can’t cook eggs like that.  Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever tried to make a fried egg before.  I must try it though.  It seems quite simple.

An exciting thing that happened last night when I got home was that I was greeted to a package waiting outside my door from Larabar!  I was not expecting anything so I couldn’t imagine what I was receiving in the mail.

Larabar sent me a pouch of their newest bars, Uber!

Lara’s new Uber bars

The Uber bars come in the following varieties:

  • Apple Turnover (190 calories, contains walnuts, pecans, dried apples, raisins, dates, cinnamon, sea salt, brown rice syrup and honey)
  • Bananas Foster (230 calories, contains dried bananas, walnuts, almonds, pecans, dates, sea salt, cinnamon, brown rice syrup and honey)
  • Cherry Cobbler (190 calories, contains dried cherries, almonds, pecans, cashews, raisins, dates, sea salt, brown rice syrup and honey)
  • Roasted Nut Roll (220 calories, contains almonds, cashews, peanuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, brown rice syrup, dates, honey and sea salt)

Please note that these bars are not available in Canada.  I was super excited when I received these bars since they are new!  I am a fan of Larabars.  I think they taste good.  I am picky with the flavors that I like though.  I couldn’t decide which bar I wanted to try first.  I know that I shouldn’t really be eating nuts with the way that my stomach is acting but I decided to try a bar anyway.

I decided to try the Apple Turnover.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I took a bite out of this bar.  I was expecting it to be somewhat crunchy but it wasn’t.  It was very soft.  It had a strong flavor of nuts mixed with a slight hint of apple.  I thought it was just okay.  I don’t know if I would try the apple turnover again.  I’d be willing to try another bar and see if I like it better.  I think it might have been a texture thing that I didn’t like.  When I eat nutritional bars, I tend to go for bars that are crunchy.  This one didn’t really have too much crunch to it.  It was very soft in texture.

Have you tried these bars yet?  Do you like nutritional bars?  Which are your favorite?

I do like Larabar.  Some of their flavors are really great.  I usually stick with Luna Bars though.  I know that I like the crunch that they give and the flavors are different from the ones that Larabar offers.  They are both good products and both contain great nutritional value which is why I like them.  They are great for a snack or on the go.  I will be sure to pack some of these when I go on my honeymoon.

So there you have it.  I hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

  1. You think with nuts they would be crunchy! I would love to try the bananas foster.

  2. I often do the same thing as you, keep all the stressors bottled up until it just becomes too much. You’re right, though, it’s not a good idea. For me personally, writing about things helps, but nothing can really replace the comfort of talking it out with someone. I’m glad you and Melissa have each other for that! :)

    • It’s hard to talk about stressors sometimes. I feel like it’s easier to just keep things to yourself. It’s not healthy. I’m trying very hard to change that. It’s good that you find comfort in writing about your feelings. I think a lot of people do that. Thank you :)

  3. I tend to keep my stress bottled up until it bubbles over. It’s not good for me, but it’s the way I’ve always handled stress.
I’m a fan of all kinds of bars and would love to try the new Larabars. I really like the regular Larabars, so these sounds yummy. My fav bars are Clif MoJo!

    • I am the same exact way. I’m trying to change that about myself but it’s difficult especially when that is the way that you’ve been coping with things for so many years. I’d be interested to try the other ones that they sent to see if they taste better. I haven’t tried Clif Mojo. That sounds good :)

  4. I’m obsessed with Nutrition bars– I need to cool it! haha
