Walk The Plank!…

Hi there!  Happy Thursday to you!  I don’t know about you but I am more than ready for the weekend.  I’m exhausted.  This has been a very long and stressful week and I’m ready for it to be over so I can relax.  I want to be able to sleep in this weekend badly.  I am in need of sleep.  I hate though on the weekends that my body wants to normally get up early because I get up so early for work.  I’d like to sleep past 9am if possible.  Hopefully my body will cooperate and realize that it’s the weekend and there is nothing that I need to get up early for.  I hate that.  Do you like waking up early on the weekends or do you usually like to sleep in?

So yesterday after work, once Melissa got home from work, I went over her house.  I played with Oliver for a little while and we talked and got ready to go to PF Changs for dinner.  I had got sent a $15 gift certificate in the mail for my birthday from there.  So we figured that last night would be the perfect night to use the gift certificate.  I’m really glad that we made reservations because the restaurant was packed!  I couldn’t believe how crowded it was for a Wednesday night.  PF Changs actually just added some new items to their menu.  So I’m not sure if it was crowded because people wanted to try the new items or what it was but I was just glad that we made reservations.  We had to wait maybe 10 minutes to be seated which wasn’t bad.

I really wanted a glass of wine or something because of the stressful week that I have had.  Unfortunately, that was not able to happen because of the medication I am on for my Crohn’s flair-up.  So I had to just deal with my unsweetened ice tea.  I decided that since I had such a stressful week, I just didn’t care what I ate.  I tried to be mindful of what I was eating but I was so frustrated and angry and I wanted to enjoy myself eating something that I actually wanted to eat instead of bland chicken and potatoes or bread or something of that nature.  So that is what I did.

We started off with an appetizer of Edamame.  I was glad to see that they finally added it to their menu!  It’s definitely one of my favorite appetizers and I haven’t had it in such a long time because of my awful stomach issues.

My only complaint was that there was WAY too much sea salt for my liking!  I do like sea salt sprinkled on them but it was like salt overload.  I definitely brushed some of it off.

Melissa and I ordered some things to share.  We ordered Buddha’s Veggie Delight steamed, sautéed spinach, tomato & cucumber salad, Philips Better Lemon Chicken, and Shaved Lemon Brussels Sprouts.

I couldn’t tell you the last time I had brussels sprouts!  As soon as I saw it on the menu, I told Melissa it was a must order!  It was light and refreshing.  I loved how it was shaved brussels sprouts.  It gave it a unique texture.  The Lemon Chicken was absolutely delicious!  It did come with broccoli but I stayed away from the majority of the vegetables that we ordered because I knew that would cause issues.

Dinner was absolutely delicious!  I’m loving the new items that they added to the menu!  I think it’s refreshing now because their menu has been the same for so many years.  They definitely needed to add things.  After dinner, we went to Whole Foods to get a few items and then stopped at ShopRite and I found the beloved cupcakes that Mike and I are obsessed with.

 

Obviously I didn’t get Halloween ones but I couldn’t find a picture of the ones that I bought and I forgot to take a picture this morning.  Anyway, Entenmann’s makes Holiday cupcakes for every holiday.  You need to pick these puppies up!  I had never had them before until Mike introduced me to them. They are absolutely incredible!  Best cupcake that you can buy not from a cupcake store or bakery.  They are so delicious.  They are only out during certain holidays so right now is the best time to find the spring ones for Easter.  They are kind of expensive but worth every penny.  I’m not kidding you.  I cannot wait to have one.  :)

After shopping, we went home and that was the end of my happy night.  I spent the rest of the night crying on our bed while Mike rubbed my back from all of the pain that I was in.  I shouldn’t have been so stubborn and ate foods that I knew were going to cause issues.  I really had a rough night and I pretty much did it to myself.  It’s so frustrating because for the most part I used to eat whatever I wanted.  I wish I could go back to those times.  I think eventually I will.  It’s just getting through this hurdle.

Before I go, you might wonder what the hell my blog title is referring to.  Well our rental company needed to replace the concrete outside of our house.  We have been asking them to do this for 2 years now since we’ve been renting from them.  It needed to be replaced because when it rains, the outside of our house completely floods.  You can’t even walk to the front door without your feet being submerged under water.  They finally decided to replace it.  So we have to “walk the plank” to get the front door.

Haha, I either feel like I’m walking across a tight rope in the Circus or I’m in the movie Peter Pan trying to escape from Captain Hook.  I’d prefer to imagine that I’m in the movie Peter Pan because as you know, I’m a Disney fanatic.  I thought you’d enjoy that picture.

  1. I used to be a huge fan of sleeping in on the weekends, but now I can’t seem to stay in bed past 9:30 if I tried. I don’t mind it though, my days are so much longer when I’m not sleeping in until noon.

    I love those cupcakes! The Halloween ones are my fav because of the candy corn on them.

  2. Wow that plank looks so… safe… Haha. Lately I’ve cared less about sleeping in and more about just sleeping all the way through the night. I keep waking 3-4 times and when the alarm goes off in the AM I feel like I haven’t slept at all. Ugh.

    • Haha! Seriously! It was awful. I’m so glad that they got rid of it. Aw, I’m sorry! I hate when that happens. I hope you can catch up on some sleep this weekend.

  3. Sorry for the rough night. It’s SO tough to say no to foods you love. You’ll get there eventually….
