Wedding Talk Wednesday: Wedding Centerpieces…

Hi there!  Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going well!  I can hardly believe that it’s already Wednesday.  This week is just flying by so quickly!  Not that I am complaining but it’s going by so fast.  I didn’t get a chance to read the Hunger Games last night! I know.  I’m so annoyed by that.  I keep going to bed so late every night and I can’t stay awake at work.  I’m hoping tonight that I can go to sleep much earlier so that I can catch up on my sleep.  I am just so tired and I hate feeling like I’m going to fall asleep at my desk.  I can’t really drink caffeine cause of my stomach so it’s not like a cup of coffee is an option unless it’s decaf and even then that bothers my stomach.  I can’t win.

Anyway, last night for dinner I was pretty adventurous and made the most amazing tasting hamburgers I ever had in my life!  I am not going to post the recipe or do a recap today since its Wedding Talk Wednesday and I don’t want to take away from that.  So I figure that I will feature the hamburgers tomorrow.  I’m not kidding you when I tell you how great they tasted!  You must try making them once I post the recipe.  So excited about it!  It definitely satisfied my craving for a burger that is for sure.

So on the wedding front, I haven’t done that much lately because I am waiting for this weekend.  This weekend, Mike and I going to our venue on Saturday and Sunday.  It’s going to be one wedding filled weekend that is for sure!  We are going on Saturday to go over details with the venue such as the colors, picking linens, the menu, timing of everything and we are also meeting the florist.  Then on Sunday, we are going back to meet with the bakery since he is unavailable on Saturday.  It’s a lot of going back and forth and the venue isn’t that close to us.  It will be worth it though, I’m sure.  After this weekend, I should be able to get the ball rolling with a lot more of the details that I need to do.  I also need to try the chair cover samples on the banquet room chairs so I can finally order those and the sashes.  I’m hoping something fits!

We have also been getting menus from various restaurants to figure out our rehearsal dinner and I’m hoping that we book our honeymoon soon.  Time is a tickin’!  We are almost 4 months away!  That is crazy to say out loud.

Since we are meeting with the florist on Saturday, I’ve been going back and forth in my head about the centerpieces.  I don’t know if we want tall or short.  I’m not really leaning towards any.  I do know that the colors are going to be shades of purples and fuchsia’s.  I also want lots of candles out.  Do you like how short or tall centerpieces look?  Do you have a preference at a wedding?

Here are some centerpieces that I think are beautiful.

I think all of these look so beautiful.  I love how candles look on the table with the centerpieces.  It makes the tone of the room romantic and that is what I am looking for.  The thing that bothers me about the tall centerpieces is that you always have a hard time seeing who is sitting across the table from you because it’s so tall.  I think I partially might be leaning toward the short centerpieces.  There can be larger floral pieces put out during the ceremony, I’m sure.

I know for the cocktail hour, smaller centerpieces should definitely be put on the tables.  I think I might like that look all around.  I just want to make sure that each centerpiece is full of flowers and I want the colors to be very vibrant like in these pictures.  I want them to stand out and make the room.

Do you have any opinions or advice on flowers or centerpieces?  Feel free to share!

Alright, well that concludes another Wedding Talk Wednesday!  I’ll be back with the hamburger recipe tomorrow.  Have a great Wednesday!

  1. We just met with our second florist contendor yesterday! We’re actually doing a mix of tall centerpieces and short so they’re not all matchy matchy and to save some money since short ones are, of course, less expensive than the tall ones. Don’t forget to think about your bouquet since that will be in a lot of photos! Let me know if you have any questions! So fun that we’re both going through this process! :)

  2. I love the idea of flowers and candles for your centerpiece. I think the two together give such a romantic feel. Beautiful! :) I also like the short and tall pieces but if I had to choose I would go with shorter ones. I hope you have fun picking them out.

  3. I agree with candles and flowers as well — it creates the perfect aura!

  4. I personally like short centerpieces, so you can see your table mates!

  5. I like having a mix of short and tall ones. The last wedding I went to alternated tall and short and it looked amazing. The tall ones are kind of annoying though because you can’t see anyone sitting across from you. Whatever you choose, it’s going to look great! :)

  6. This is such an exciting time for you!! We had short centerpieces exploding with Lilly’s and roses. They looked absolutely gorgeous and we had tons of compliments.

Shortly after our wedding, we attended another one and they had super tall ones. It was very beautiful but I didn’t get to say one word to the people across the table. Kind of felt like a devider wall at the table haha. Again, gorgeous, but I like the short ones. Best wishes to you and your fiancé during this special time :)

    • Thank you so much! :) I am very excited! Your centerpieces sound beautiful! I love lily’s and roses. So pretty!

You are right. The taller centerpieces make it hard to interact with those across from you. That is the only negative thing about them. Thank you! I appreciate that so much :)

  7. I love the wedding centerpiece in the first photo. It was really simple yet attractive.
