Hi there! Happy Monday! I hope all of you had a great weekend! What did you do this weekend? The time change really messed things up yesterday. I felt like the entire day went by in the blink of an eye! Open minute I was waking up and starting my day and the next minute it was over. Yesterday went by entirely too quickly. Well in fact the entire weekend went by so fast. So I will get back to where I left off on Saturday. Actually I’ll go back to Friday and catch you up on the happenings of Friday.
On Friday after work, Mike and I went over to CVS so that we could get passport photos taken for our passports that we are getting for our honeymoon. It was actually really quick to have them done. They are expensive though. It’s $10 for two small photos! Crazy! You don’t even need two photos either. You only need one id photo. After getting our pictures done, we went to Red Robin because I had a coupon for a free burger for my birthday. I decided to go all out for dinner. My stomach hurts me regardless of what I eat and I was craving a cheeseburger so I just went with it. I was embarrassed too because the servers came out and sang Happy Birthday to me. That was totally embarrassing because my birthday isn’t until next weekend. Oh well. It was nice of them. As soon as we were done eating, we went home and then I was extremely sick the rest of the night. I knew that was going to happen but I wanted a cheeseburger and I am getting so frustrated with what I can and can’t eat. I just decided to go for it. I have my appointment with a new doctor for a second opinion on Wednesday. So I am praying that he can help me or switch my medicines around or something.
Anyway, on Saturday, we woke up early because it was National Passport Day. We actually ended up being the first ones in line of a super long line to get our passports processed. I was so glad that we were first in line because I had lots to do on Saturday. We should get them in 4 to 6 weeks. I just wanted us to get them over and done with so we have enough time to receive them in time for our honeymoon. Which we still have not booked by the way! We will soon. After our passports, I went to have my taxes done with Melissa and my mom. That was the last time I will be filing my taxes as single. It was a strange feeling.
When our taxes were done, we got ready to drive to the Philadelphia Convention Center. Melissa surprised me with tickets to the Flower Show. More importantly, we were going on Saturday because Bethenny Frankel was going to be there signing autographs. I have mentioned several times how much of a fan of hers I am. I have been wanting to meet her so badly and this was my chance! I was so appreciative and thankful for the tickets that Melissa bought us. The city was absolutely crazy! We drove around the city for over 2 hours trying to find parking. Streets were blocked off and every single parking garage was full. It was such an awful experience. I was feeling so sick in the car. It was terrible. I thought for sure we were going to miss everything! Finally, after our millionth time driving around, a parking garage opened up and we found a spot!
Bethenny was going to be signing autographs from 2:30-4:30pm. Then at 4:30pm she had a VIP party which you need separate tickets for. They were $100 each! Way too expensive for us to take part in. So as soon as we walked through the door, we ran to find where she would be signing autographs. You needed to purchase a bottle of her Skinnygirl Cocktail for her to sign. So I ran to buy a bottle while Melissa and my mom got in line to meet her. Well around 3:00pm, there was a rumor that she had left and wasn’t coming back! Are you kidding me? She was supposed to be there until 4:30! I was standing in a huge line waiting to buy a bottle. Her PR person came over and asked us in line if we want her to come back out. Um, yes!!! Finally, I got up to the register. I bought my bottle and raced over to Melissa and my mom. We kept waiting in line and waiting in line and waiting.
Her people came over and gave us wristbands. Anyone who was wearing one would be able to meet her if she was coming back out.
They also gave us Skinnygirl Cocktail t-shirts while we were waiting in line.
We continued waiting in line. My hands were sweaty and I was getting nervous and tired of waiting. Didn’t she appreciate her fans? So many people were sending her angry tweets and writing mean things on Facebook. People starting leaving the line. At this point it was 4:15pm and the VIP party was supposed to start at 4:30pm. All of sudden, she walks out and mass chaos begins. Her people literally shoved you through to meet her. You were lucky if you could say two words to her! I was so disappointed about that. I had an entire speech prepared that I wanted to say to her. I did manage to say a few things and hand her a paper with my blog address and email address. So I’m hoping that she kept that and will contact me. I know that is a far fetched dream but you never know what could happen. She was nice for the two seconds that I met her. I did manage to get a picture. Don’t mind me, I look absolutely awful in this picture.
She did sign my bottle that I bought!
So was I happy that I met her? Extremely! Was I disappointed? Yes. I don’t know if it was her doing or her people but rushing fans through lines and cutting your signing short was not right. I heard that she only showed up for 20 minutes for her VIP party. I’m not sure what was going on. I’d give her a second chance. I think I would have a better chance of talking to her if I went to a book signing of hers. I still love her but my opinion has changed a bit. Have you ever been disappointed when meeting a celebrity?
After meeting her, we finally walked around the Flower Show. This year the theme was Hawaii. It was absolutely beautiful! Here are some pictures that I took of the displays.
After the flower show, we went to a local Chinese restaurant for dinner.
I had such a great time with Melissa and my mom! I am so thankful I was able to go to the flower show and meet Bethenny! It was an experience I will never forget ever!
On Sunday, I felt terrible. I spent the entire day just laying around until we finally decided to go to the supermarket. For dinner, I kept it simple. I had breakfast for dinner.
Now here we are, another Monday, another week. The weather is supposed to be beautiful this week! I’m looking forward to cooking a delicious corned beef brisket in the crockpot on Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day. I hope my stomach will cooperate for that. Alright, have a great Monday!

Ugh, it’s so frustrating when meet and greet events/signings are rushed like that. Waiting in line for hours should count for something, you know? Not to mention being a devoted fan! Whenever I’ve been in a situation like that, it seems to be because of the people running the event – so maybe it was Bethenny’s people and not her? Either way, I’m glad you got to meet her and say at least a little bit. Your picture with her is so great!!
I totally agree with you! It is frustrating. It might have been her people and not her but I’m not sure. The thing that throws me off is that she went to the VIP party for 20 minutes and then went out to a Stephen Starr restaurant. I thought you would want to be there to thank your fans. Especially if they spent so much money. I don’t know. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Thank you so much
I feel thankful that I was able to meet her.
Sorry about the disappointment, lady. Glad you at least got to meet her and talk for a few minutes!
That’s okay.
You are right! A few minutes is better than nothing.
I’ve never tried skinnygirl drinks but I really should one of these days…
You should! Some of them are better than others. I like the Margarita and the White Cranberry Cosmo. I wasn’t a fan of the Sangria.
I live in Philly and was totally considering going to the Flower Show on Saturday because I too LOVE Bethenny! It’s sooo awesome that you got to meet her even briefly, I’m sorry to hear that she wasn’t there too much. I thought she was much more appreciative of her fans too. Oh well, maybe next time!
It’s okay.
I’m glad that I was able to get the opportunity. I hope if I get to meet her another time that the experience will be different.
