Hi there! Happy Wednesday! This week feels like it’s flying by to me. Maybe it’s because I’m so busy? I’m not exactly sure. Either way, I’m glad about it! The weather was pretty crummy yesterday. I don’t understand it. Last week it was in the 50′s. This week it’s in the 60′s and raining and then at the end of this week the temperature is supposed to drop. I’d rather deal with the cold weather than go back and forth between warm and cold. It’s such a tease with the weather!Yesterday after work, Mike and I met his parents and Ryan at a local Italian restaurant to celebrate his dad’s birthday. I happen to be madly in love with the vodka sauce that this restaurant has. Mike is obsessed with it too. So I knew that we would both be ordering the same exact thing except he ordered the bigger version of the entrée. The good thing about this place that they have two sizes of pasta that you can order. I went with the smaller version and I still had so much left. Lunch for today! I love when dinner leaves you leftovers for lunch. It’s the best!
Yum! Delicious! I think that vodka sauce could quite possibly be my favorite sauce to serve over pasta. I think alfredo is a close second. What about you? What kind of sauce do you prefer and what is your favorite kind of pasta? I really like rigatoni, the curly noodles (can’t remember what they are called), and fettuccine. I am a pasta fanatic! It was nice to be able to get together to celebrate Mike’s dad’s birthday. I think he enjoyed himself and that is all that matters!
Now, let’s get to my favorite part of Wednesdays! Wedding Talk! Today’s topic is the wedding ring. I’m talking about the bands that you and your husband wear to show that you are married. The wedding band is worn on the base of the left ring finger. It became customary for men and women to both wear rings in the 20th century. Before it was just the woman who wore the ring. Wearing rings on the fourth finger, a married couple symbolically declares their eternal love for each other.
In most traditions, it is typically the responsibility of the best man to keep track of the couple’s wedding rings and to produce them at the symbolic moment of the giving and receiving of the rings during the traditional marriage ceremony. However, some couples choose to have a ring bearer and in that case they will assist in the ceremony by presenting the rings on a pillow or cushion of some sort.
In our wedding we will not have a ring bearer so one of Mike’s best men, either Ryan or his best friend Russ will hold onto our wedding rings. Will you have a ring bearer at your wedding or will you have the best man hold the rings?
It is extremely important to me that Mike wears a wedding ring at all times that he possibly can. I understand not wearing the ring while he working out at the gym or playing tennis or things of that nature but all other times I would like him to wear it. I am traditional in the fact that I think it is a symbol of our love and dedication to our lives together. I will proudly wear a wedding ring in addition to my engagement ring that I love dearly.
Mike has an idea of what type of wedding band he would like to wear. He wants a metal that is indestructible. So he has been leaning towards tungsten. He wants something simple and he doesn’t want the band too thick. I’m not exactly sure of the exact ring that he wants but I think these are pretty close to some that he likes.
I think we might first look at the jewelry store where he bought my engagement ring from because he saw some rings that he liked there when we were getting my ring resized.
As for myself, I would like to get a wedding ring that matches my engagement ring. My ring has diamonds surrounding the band and that is the type of wedding ring that I want. I would like for it to match the design of the diamonds on my ring currently. Here is an idea of what I am thinking:
I just want something that is going to match my engagement ring and not look too plain. I don’t want to spend a ton of money either. I’m thinking that we can always upgrade my ring in the future when we have more money to spend. The most important thing to me is that I have a wedding ring to symbolize our marriage to each other. Do you have any ideas of what you would want your wedding band to look like? Are you into more plain styles or diamonds?
I’m slowly beginning to run out of topics to discuss on Wedding Talk Wednesdays. Like I’ve mentioned previously if you have any wedding related topics that you would like to talk about, please comment or email me! I don’t want to give away that many details about my wedding because I’m not sure who is reading. I want everything to be a surprise for my guests. So the majority of the actual details of the wedding will come after it has already happened. I’m sorry for that. I’ll just keep leaving you in suspense. ;)
On that note, have a wonderful Wednesday! We are half-way through the week! :)

i like the first ring!
i also think vodka sauce has taken first place in my heart
Me too! I think it’s beautiful.
Same here. I love vodka sauce
my wedding band has little diamonds all around it, most like the 2nd one you show. What can I say, I like a little extra sparkle
That is awesome! It’s beautiful!
I like extra sparkle too. There is nothing wrong with that
I love that they embraced other metals for guys’ rings. That’s the chem dork in me speaking and part of me kiiiind of would think it’d be cool to have a titanium engagement ring. I actually held the ring for my sister’s husband in her wedding, fit perfectly around my thumb and I checked 400242049024901 times before it was time to give it to her. Haha!
Me too! Haha! That is awesome! I’d be so nervous if it was my responsibility to hold onto the rings. I’d be so paranoid that I would loose it.
Ooh, I LOVE the second and fourth wedding bands you posted as options for yourself. They have such an elegant beauty to them!
I totally agree!
They are beautiful. It’s going to be hard to figure out what I want.
I love the second wedding band! I haven’t gave much thought about wedding band (I’m not getting marry any time soon), but I do look at engagement ring though. Haha.
Haha. I love that one too! Looking at engagement rings is fun! It’s important to have an idea of what type of ring you want so when the moment comes you can tell your boyfriend
this made me smile because when i was wedding planning i did “wedding plans wednesday”—awe.
i only have one ring–acts as my wedding and engagement ring–because i already hate the fear of losing ONE. what if i had to keep track of two?!
Aw, that is awesome! I didn’t realize that you wrote about your planning. Your wedding looked beautiful!
Oh, I completely know what you mean. I get nervous that my ring is going to fall off my finger in the cold weather because it loosens up a bit. It’s scary.
I’ve never had vodka sauce actually…. :-/ any recommendations?
Love all of the rings, so hard to choose from..
You definitely need to try it! It’s so good!
My favorite jarred vodka sauce is Paul Newman’s. His vodka sauce is really good! If you try it let me know what you think.
I know. I like all of them too.
We have similar taste! The wedding bands you picked our are very similar to what I’ve been looking at. I want a thin band with tiny diamonds circling it. My fiance also wants tungsten as his wedding band. I also agree in the tradition of wearing the ring. It is a symbol and I would be bothered if Pete didn’t wear his. I get the gym, as I never wear my engagement ring there, but everywhere else YES!
That is awesome!
That is funny that we all want the same types of rings. Great minds think alike. I totally 100% agree with you!
The 4th picture is VERY similar to my wedding band so obviously I’m baised about liking that one best!
Aw, that is awesome! It is a beautiful ring!
I had the same thing for dinner today!
I love the last ring you posted for yourself. It still looks like a traditional wedding ring, but it has the gorgeous diamond accent. Love it!
That is awesome!
I love vodka sauce.
I like that one too. It’s really pretty!
