A Bridesmaid Dress Kind Of Weekend…

Good Morning!  Happy Sunday!  I apologize for not blogging yesterday.  I needed a day off plus I really didn’t have much time to blog because I was getting ready for my bridesmaids to come over to my house.  This weekend has gone by entirely too quickly.  I wish it was still the beginning of the weekend but unfortunately we have approached the end.  Anyway, let’s get back to Friday!

After work on Friday, I had to run a few errands.  I had to get things together because I was making my bridesmaids a “will you be my bridesmaid?” gift.  I will mention more about that later in the post but I was running around like a crazy person trying to pull my ideas together.  I didn’t wait until the last-minute.  I had been running around during the week trying to figure out what I wanted to do but I couldn’t come up with any ideas.  I finally came up with a great idea while browsing the aisles of Jo-Ann Fabrics.  I love how craft stores do that to you!

After I got home, it was late already.  I was out for over 2 hours trying to figure out what to do.  Mike and I decided we didn’t feel like cooking.  If you remember a couple of weeks ago, I complained about how I was almost food poisoned at Outback Steakhouse.  I emailed corporate and they sent me a $45 gift certificate to try their restaurant again.  Obviously, Mike and I were not going to the Outback that we went to before.  So we went to a different one in hopes that this time would be better.

I started my meal off with a house salad with mustard vinaigrette.  I love that dressing.  It’s really good from there.

Since I had a bad experience with chicken, I decided to order steak instead.  I’m not a huge steak fan but I will have it every once in a while.  I will only eat my steak if it is well done.  I do not like any trace of pink in my steak.  So I ordered a filet and shrimp combo with a sweet potato on the side.

Filet and Shrimp Combo

Of course my steak came out with pink so I had to send it back for them to re-cook it.  The shrimp had an awful seasoning on it.  I couldn’t even tell you what it was but it was terrible.  I didn’t like it at all.  I wasn’t a big fan of the steak either.  I am just not a fan of that restaurant.  I was thankful that we didn’t need to pay for our dinner.  I don’t see myself running back to Outback anytime soon that is for sure!  Are you a fan of chain restaurants?  What is your favorite chain?  Would you rather go to a privately own restaurant?  I like some chains, here and there.  I would rather go to a privately owned restaurant.  I think the quality of food is so much better.

Saturday I woke up early to straighten up the house a bit for our guests coming over.  I was so nervous and excited at the same time.  I wanted everyone to get along so badly and for things to go smoothly.  I made myself a nervous wreak!  I put out all of my bridesmaids gifts so they would see it when they walked into our house.

Will You Be My Bridesmaid? decorated bags

I asked them on the bags and put quotes about friendship that I really liked..

Closer look at Melissa's Will You Be My Maid Of Honor? bag..

Inside the bag, I put a pin that said Official Member of the Bridal Party, and Melissa’s said Maid of Honor.  I also put in a small bottle of champagne to celebrate with!

I forgot to take a picture of the mini champagne bottles but they looked like this:

Mini Champagne bottles

I think they were all really surprised and liked it!  It was important that they knew how much I love them and appreciate that they are being a part of Mike and I’s special day.  I also used a purple bag, if you noticed!  So that it goes along with our wedding colors.

After everyone met, Melissa, Courtney, Kristen, Tarra and I piled into my car and went to David’s Bridal.  I had them try on two different dresses.  The one I had my heart set on and the other one I liked but wasn’t too crazy over. I wanted to compare them in two dresses just so I had something to judge on.  Melissa didn’t try anything on because we already picked out her dress.  She is wearing a different dress than the other bridesmaids because I wanted to distinguish her as my Maid of Honor.

The girls first tried on the dress that I had my heart on and it looked beautiful on all of them.  It really flattered everyone’s body type and it goes perfectly with my dress and Melissa’s.  It has an accent item that is accented on my dress.  So it’s going to look amazing!  I decided to go with that dress.  I wasn’t a big fan of the other dress.  It didn’t really do anything for anyone’s body.  This other dress made everyone look great.  It’s satin and it’s short.  It’s going to be plum.  All of the dresses will be plum.

I’m going to keep Melissa’s dress and the bridesmaids dress a secret.  Sorry!  I’m going to leave you in suspense until our wedding in August.  I have to because I want everything to be a surprise!  I promise you that once the wedding is over, I will show you the dresses.  I think it’s going to look great especially when different shades of purples and pinks in flowers are held up against it.  I’m glad that the bridesmaids were really happy with the dress too.  That made me glad.

I had such a great time with all of them.  They are all amazing and have been great friends to me through the years.  The best part was that everyone got along really well!  It was so great to see everyone having good conversations.  It made me happy and made me realize that I didn’t need to make myself so nervous over everything.  I need to take a big deep breath and realize that everything is going to be okay.  :)  I am thankful.

After shopping, we went back to my house and hung out for a while.  Kristen’s husband Russ was hanging out with Mike and their daughter Kyleigh.  Kristen and Russ live in Maryland so we don’t get to see them often.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they move back soon.  Russ is one of Mike’s best men.  They have been friends since elementary school and then I became really good friends with Russ’s wife when we met almost 6 years ago.  I think on Wednesday I will do a post introducing all of my bridesmaids to you.  I think that would be fun.

For dinner, Courtney asked Mike and I if we wanted to go to Chickie & Pete’s with her and her husband.  So we said sure.

Chickie's Menu

Of course we ordered crab fries.  I mean really?  Can you go to Chickie’s and not order them?  I can’t!

Crab Fries!!!

I was in the mood for something spicy.  So Mike and shared buffalo wings.

Wings minus one, thanks to Mike!

I didn’t realize they had such good wings there!  I really liked them a lot.  Best wings I have had in a while.  It was really nice to catch up with Courtney and her husband Ian.  We haven’t seen them in a while and it was nice to get together.

So here we are on Sunday.  It feels so much later than it is right now because of the time change.  I hope all of you remembered to turn your clocks back an hour.  I woke up so early this morning.  I just couldn’t sleep!

Well I should probably get started on my day.  Have a great rest of your weekend!  :)

  1. Oh my gosh, your “will you be a bridesmaid?” gift bags are ADORABLE! I love, love, love that you included friendship quotes on them. I’m a total quote fanatic and am always using them on gifts for people. It was so thoughtful of you to put together a present for everyone. It’s details and gestures like that that make the whole experience so special — and what a great friend you are to go so far above and beyond for everyone!!

So glad you had such a memorable, wonderful time and that it worked out for the girls to wear the dresses you love so very much!

As a total side note – would you ever be up for meeting for lunch/dinner/coffee sometime? I think we’re pretty close by to each other and would love to get together! :)

    • Aw, thank you! :) I love quotes too! I think it made the gift that much more special finding quotes that actually had meaning to me and my friends. Thank you so much! That means a lot. I wanted to do something to show them that I appreciate them investing in our wedding. I know it’s a lot and I just wanted to express how grateful I am for them being in my life.

I was very happy about that too! I was so nervous but in the end it was very flattering on everyone. :)

I would definitely love that!! Let me know when you are free and if during the week or on the weekends would work better for you. I would totally love to meet :) Yay!!!

  2. I love the gift bag idea! That is super cute and the mini champagne bottles are adorable. I can’t wait to see all the dresses and the whole wedding come together! So exciting!

I’ve never heard of crab fries before? Do they have actual crab or is that just their name? I’m very intruiged!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! :)

    • Aw, thank you! :) I was hoping that my bridesmaids would like it. It is very exciting! I can’t wait either! I hope everything comes together the way I am thinking.

Haha, no they don’t have crab on them. The reason why they are called crab fries is because they sprinkle Old Bay seasoning on them which is typically used on crabs. So it’s just french fries with crab seasoning with a side of melted American cheese. It’s so delicious! I highly recommend it. :)

      Thank you!! You too!

  3. I haven’t been to Chickie & Pete’s in ages! You always have to get the crab fries. I’ll have to try their wings the next time I go. We’ve been having the hardest time trying to find a good wing place by us. Maybe it’s time to make my own.

    • I totally agree! The crab fries are THE best! The wings are really good at Chickie’s. I also like the wings at the Boathouse. There is one in Wayne and in Conshohocken (totally butchered the spelling). Mike’s cousin took us to the one in Coshy and their wings are good! They are meaty too. It’s the same place in Wayne but I’ve never been to that one before. I’ve been wanting to make wings at home too. :)
