A Newman’s Own Kind of Pre-Halloween Night…

Hi there!  Happy Halloween!  I hope all of you had a great weekend!  I personally think that this weekend went by way too quick!  What did you do this weekend?  Did you dress up?  If you did, what were you?  Sadly, I did not dress up or do anything festive for Halloween.  I think this is the first year that I didn’t do anything for the holiday and it’s definitely one of my favorites.  I’m not even sure why either.  We got Halloween candy over the weekend.  I’m hoping some kids come around.  Last year, we didn’t get any kids which was very disappointing.  So we only got 3 bags of candy.  Once those are gone, the light is going off.  I hope we at least get a few kids.  I like looking at their costumes especially the little kids.  They are so cute!  Do you give out candy?

So yesterday after blogging, I finally got myself together and Mike and I ran some errands and then went food shopping.  We ended up getting some great deals and only spending $40 which was great.  It was a lot less than what I was anticipating so that was a good thing.

I had been thinking the entire day for something good to make for dinner last night.  It was really stressing me out.  However, thanks to the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program and Newman’s Own I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to make.  Last week, I received a VERY generous package of Newman’s Own products to try out along with my very own Flip Video Camera!  I had been dying for one of those cameras but couldn’t bring myself to by one.  I am very excited to try it out!

I decided that I was going to make an Italian dish for dinner.  I had been craving Italian and I thought it was the best chance to have some.

I decided to use the Newman’s Own Roasted Garlic Sauce for the meal.

The thing that I really like about Newman’s Own products is the fact that they are all natural.  You can pronounce and know every single ingredient that they use in their products.  I like this much better than not knowing what an ingredient is and better yet, not even being able to pronounce it!  I also like that they donate their profits to Charity.  I really admire that.

For our pasta, I decided to use Ronzoni Garden Delight Fettuccine.

I started off this quick and easy meal by sautéing some fresh broccoli, yellow squash, green squash and fresh asparagus in cooking spray, garlic salt and pepper just until tender.

Vegetables Cooking

The last time I made turkey meatballs I had frozen some.  So I added them to the vegetables once they were cooked.  Then I added the fettuccine when it was al dente.  I tossed everything in the Newman’s Own Roasted Garlic Sauce.

I also roasted up some string beans and acorn squash to serve on the side which I used garlic salt and pepper on as well.

I made us a salad to start our meal off by chopping some Organic Romaine lettuce, along with cucumber and carrots.  I tossed everything in Newman’s Own Lighten Up Caesar Dressing.

My salad

I wanted this dressing to be good but it just didn’t do it for me.  I liked that it wasn’t a creamy caesar dressing.  I also liked that you could taste hints of parmesan cheese.  I didn’t like that it was so heavy on your palate.  It was very peppery and spicy.  At one point, it was burning my lips.  I have a high spice tolerance and for a dressing this was a bit too much for me.  I don’t know that I would buy this particular dressing but I am excited to try Newman’s other dressings.

I really loved the Roasted Garlic sauce.  I thought it was just the perfect amount of garlic.  It wasn’t overpowering and it wasn’t a heavy sauce.  It was perfect.  It blended great with the fettuccine and the vegetables and turkey meatballs.  It enhanced the flavor of all of the vegetables and I really liked that.  This meal was super easy and quick to put together in 30 minutes or less.  I think it’s kid friendly too because of the colored pasta and the vegetables mixed into the sauce and pasta.  This meal would be great for any night of the week.

I would like to thank the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program and Newman’s Own for allowing me to try such great products!  It was a pleasure.  :)

Have you ever tried any Newman’s Own products?  What are your favorites?

So I’m curious to see if anyone at my work will be dressed up today.  I didn’t dress up.  Are you planning on dressing up for work?  I will be wearing my festive Halloween socks, although no one will notice.  ;)

Have a great Halloween!!  Trick or Treat!  :)

    • That’s sweet of you to give those trick or treaters extra candy. :) I’m really hoping that we get at least a few. It’s a shame. I’ll have to try the raspberry vinaigrette. That sounds good.

  1. Happy Halloween!

When I was younger, my neighborhood used to get (no exaggeration) somewhere around 250 kids. For some reason, it was the “it” spot to trick-or-treat. It’s dwindled to around 100 now, but I still love getting to hand out candy and see all the creative costumes!

    • Happy Halloween to you! Wow, that is awesome!!!! Me too! I missed it last year because we didn’t get anyone! Where I grew up we would get a lot of kids but it wasn’t anywhere near 250. That is crazy! :)

  2. We get a lot of trick or treaters because we live basically right in the middle of our town and I love it! We always buy a ton of candy and it’s usually gone by the end of the night. I hope the cold doesn’t keep kids away this year.
Munchkin and I are going trick or treating tonight and I can’t wait! I’m kind of bummed I didn’t get to go out for Halloween because of the snow, but I’m gonna make up for it tonight.
I got the Flip cam too and I screamed when I opened the box and saw it. I’ve wanted one for a long time and now I get to capture all of Munchkin’s embarrassing moments on video to show his future girlfriends. :)

    • You are lucky! That is awesome. I wish we got a lot of kids. Growing up where I lived, we would also get lots of kids. Now where my fiance and I live there is like no one. It’s sad.

Aw, that should be fun! Have a great time! I can’t wait to see what munchkin is dressing up as!

That is awesome! Me too!!! I was super excited for it. I wanted to bring a video camera to have memories from our honeymoon and now I can bring the flip cam! :)
