A Season To Look Forward To…

Good Morning!  I’m loving this crisp cool weather we are having right now.  Although, I wish my office would turn down the air or something.  It’s freezing in here!  I’m wearing a long sleeve shirt, a jacket, jeans and uggs and I’m still cold!  At home, we haven’t turned the heat on yet.  We will probably wait until the last possible minute that we can’t take the cold anymore because I’m cheap.  Haha. ;)  I’m perfectly okay wearing layers, getting covered in my snuggie and having the space heater in front of me.  I’d rather sit with the space heater because it makes the house warmer.  Since we live on the first floor of a condo, it’s freezing in our place during the winter.  The only good thing about the spring/summer is that it’s really cool in our house and we don’t need to run the air conditioning as much.  It’s just pretty uncomfortable in the winter.

Anyway, yesterday when I was driving home from work, I called my dad again.  I’m trying to do well with calling him at least once a week now to catch up on things.  It’s been a rough road with him. I just want him in my life again.  I don’t like the feeling of not talking to my dad.  We may not always agree on everything but at the end of the day, he is still my dad.  We had a good conversation and that made me happy.

When I got home, I caught up on some tv shows.  I am falling so far behind with my dvr!  I don’t know what is happening to me.  I missed so many season finales that I have on my dvr and I have a lot of new shows.  I just started watching Revenge.  It seems interesting.  I’m not too sure what to make of it yet.  I think I’m almost done the first episode.  So I’m pretty far behind!

When Mike got home, we decided that since we have so many leftovers from the family dinner that I made, that we should have those.  I was smart on Sunday and bought a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket.  I love rotisserie chickens.  I don’t know why I don’t buy them more often.  Since it’s only the two of us, one chicken goes a long way.  Plus, there are so many things you can do with pre-cooked chicken.

We started off our dinner with the last of my matzah ball soup.  I’m sad it’s gone.  It’s definitely one of my favorite soups.  I should just make it more often.  We don’t need a special holiday to enjoy the soup.

Right now, I’m loving roasted butternut squash.  I cannot get enough of it.  It tastes just so good!  I’ve heard that acorn squash is good too.  I’m going to have to try that.  I took the easy way out when I bought the butternut squash and paid a lot of money to get it pre-cut.  Next time, I think I’ll do it myself.  It’s not that difficult plus I’ll save a significant amount of money.

I’ve been trying to think of things that I am looking forward to or would like to accomplish this fall.  So I wanted to start a list of things that I’m looking forward to or that I hope to accomplish.

1.) Decorate the house for Halloween/Fall.

2.) Go apple and pumpkin picking.

3.) Buy some new fall/winter clothes & shoes.

4.) Go out shopping with Melissa on Black Friday.

5.) Try to create new fall inspired recipes.

6.) Create and send out our wedding Save The Dates.

7.) Design and start creating items that are needed for the wedding.

8.) Order chair covers & sashes for the reception chairs on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

9.) Create & Register for our wedding.

10.) Design a wedding website.

11.) Spend time with family and friends.

So those are some things that I would like to accomplish this fall.  I think most of them are not too hard or difficult to do as long as I put my mind to it.  What are some things that you would like to accomplish or do this fall?

I should probably get back to work right now.  I have lots to do!  Have a good Tuesday!  :)

  1. I’d like to get some fun halloween/fall decorations for our house, too. I also want to get the house more organized. It’s mostly neat, but not totally yet. I need to rethink our bookcase situation because I have a pile of cookbooks and no shelf left to place them upon! Good luck with the wedding planning! :D

  2. I put up most of my Halloween/fall decorations this morning. I love the way the house looks all decked out. I’m one trip to Michael’s away from being done.

This fall I want to do some more fall themed cooking/baking, dress up for Halloween (costumes were already purchased!) and spend time outdoors enjoying the season and leaves changing colors.

I can’t wait to see more wedding related things! I absolutely can’t wait until I get to register one day, I’ll be like a kid in a candy store!

    • That is awesome! :) You should post pictures! I love seeing other people’s decorations.

That sounds perfect! I love fall baking/cooking. :)

I know. I’m looking forward to registering too! I will definitely be posting a ton of wedding related things.
