A Weekend Gone By Too Quick…

Good Morning!  I can hardly believe that it’s Monday already.  This weekend absolutely flew by so quickly!  I think it was because I was so busy with things that had to get done.  What is with this weather?!  It’s supposed to be in the 80’s today and on Saturday starts October.  I want the cooler weather.  Bring on the fall temperatures!  I cannot stand this humidity.  Yesterday it was super humid.  I cannot stand it when it feels like that outside.  I think we dealt with that this entire summer.  I’m ready to put my uggs back on!

What did you do this weekend?  Let’s catch you up on what I did this weekend.  Let’s see.  On Friday, I called my dad while I was driving home from work.  I haven’t talked to him since April, I think.  We had a huge fight and I just haven’t felt like talking to him.  I was actually waiting for him to contact me but he never did.  So I took the first step and called him.  We have a very rocky relationship.  I haven’t seen him in a year.  It hurts me a lot.  Those are issues that I need to deal with, within myself.  It was a decent conversation for the most part. So that was a good thing.

After I got off the phone, I watched some DVR shows while I waited for Mike to get home from the gym.  Once, he got home we went to one of my favorite restaurants.  I’m sure you could probably guess it by now since I have gone there so many times on this blog.  We went to Arirang.  Apparently, everyone else had the same idea as us.  It was late already too!  So we just sat at the actual bar.  We enjoy sitting in the bar area in a booth but they were all taken.  So a seat at the bar, it was!

We started off with my favorite!

My Southwestern Roll (Mexican Sushi! Awesome roll!)

We shared a California Roll

I love the sushi from there!  It’s so good.  I think I might have earned enough points for a free gift certificate!  I hope I did.  They always send me emails for $15 off our purchase.  So it’s a great idea to sign up for their emails!   The rest of the night, we just hung out at home and watched some tv.

Saturday morning, we woke up early because I was getting my car’s windshield fixed finally!  I couldn’t wait to see clearly while driving again!  We started off our morning with breakfast from Chick-fil-A because I had a coupon for their free oatmeal that was going to expire!

Oatmeal with a side of hash browns not pictured

Honestly, I didn’t like it at all and I’m glad that it was free.  It was flavorless.  They give you 3 packets of mix-ins: brown sugar, nuts and fruit.  I later added the fruit and it didn’t help the flavor at all.  I just really was not a fan.  I have tried oatmeal from Starbucks and McDonald’s and I have to say that both of those are really good!  I would not spend money on the oatmeal from Chick-fil-A.  I think I’ll stick to the chicken from there.  That is always a winner.

After breakfast, we went and dropped my car off.  We had an hour and a half to kill so we decided to go to Plato’s Closet.  I wanted to try to sell some clothes to get extra money.  I gave 2 large bags filled with clothes and they only wanted to give me $9 for all of that stuff!  No, thanks!  I even had items with tags still on them, never worn!  So now I need to figure out what I am going to do with that stuff. GR!

I had much better luck at Old Navy.  I wanted to browse around the store and my browsing brought me to the Clearance rack.  I’m glad that it did because I ended up getting 2 pairs of jeans, and a pair of black sweat capri pants for $11 total!!!!!  The jeans were on clearance for $4 each!  What a deal!  I love them too.  They are the perfect length for me and are very flattering.  Not bad for $4.  I’m glad that I went into that store.  It’s definitely worth a browse in there.  I saw lots of cute items for fall and some great things on the clearance racks.

Before we knew it, it was time to get my car!  I’m so glad that I can see clear out the windshield now!  It’s so much better and I feel a lot safer.  I was afraid that it was going to shatter in a million pieces while I was driving.  I went home for a little bit and relaxed and then went to Melissa and my mom’s house to pick them up for our David’s Bridal appointment.

The appointment went really well.  Melissa picked out the dress that she wants to wear for the wedding.  It was the one that she loved all along.  I asked her to try on two other styles and we both fell in love with the first style that she had her eye on.  I made my mind up that she is wearing a different dress from the other bridesmaids.  She deserves to be distinguished as the maid of honor because not only is she my sister but she my best friend.  Plus, I think it will look really nice for her to be in one dress and the girls in the other dress.  I have my mind made up for the bridesmaids dress too.  I know the exact dress that I want all of them to wear.  I just hope that it fits all of them and they feel comfortable or else I don’t know what I am going to do.

My mom also tried on a dress and looked stunning in it!  I’m not sure if she is going to end up buying that dress or not but at least she has an option now.  I saw a dress that I am dying to buy for the rehearsal dinner.  I might have to try it on when we go back for the bridesmaids appointment.  I keep thinking about that dress.  It was super cute.  I’m not going to reveal any of the choices that I have made in dresses until the big day!  I know.  I am keeping all of you in suspense for 11 months.  I think you can handle it.  ;)

After David’s Bridal, we decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.  There actually wasn’t too long of a wait but we decided to sit at the bar and order drinks while waiting for our table.  Their drinks are expensive there!!!  Really expensive.  No wonder they don’t list the drink prices on the menu.  No one would order them if they knew how much they cost!  I think we waited about 20 minutes.  It wasn’t too bad.

I decided that I wanted to order something with a Mexican feel to it.  I haven’t had Mexican food in such a long time.  I was really craving it.

This burrito was massive!  I mean huge!  It could have easily been shared by two people.  I now have lunch for the next 2 days!  Seriously!  I couldn’t even eat half of it.  I definitely got my moneys worth for that meal for sure.

Who can go to the Cheesecake Factory without ordering cheesecake?  Not me!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake

I think this was one of the best cheesecakes I ever had from there!  I am a chocolate and peanut butter lover.  So I was in heaven!!  What is your favorite type of cheesecake?

After dinner, we went home and I hung out at their house for a while.  Oliver and I had a photo shoot.  I think he was getting annoyed at how many pictures I was taking of him.  He was probably happy when I left.  Haha.  I love that little white furry man!  I can’t believe he is 9 and a half already!  He certainly doesn’t act like it at all.

On Sunday, I had some errands to run and then went to the supermarket with Mike when the Eagles game was over.  We decided to have the leftover pasta with alfredo sauce from the other night.  I also made a favorite, kale chips!  They came out perfectly!

Pasta Alfredo with TJ Turkey Meatball and Kale Chips with roasted green beans!

The kale chips came out perfectly crispy!  I loved it.  I was planning on dvring the new tv show, Pan Am last night because it goes on at 10pm and I usually go to sleep at 10.  I wasn’t tired though.  So Mike and I stayed up watching it.  I’m really glad that I did!  I think this show is one of my new fall favorites!  I’m glad that a good show replaced Brothers and Sisters.  Now I don’t feel so bad that the show ended.  I cannot wait to watch more episodes of this show!  I like that Christina Ricci is in it.  I have always been a fan of hers.  I love the costumes of the show and I like that it’s different from other shows on tv!  I want to be a Pan Am flight attendant!  It looks like fun!  Did you catch the show last night?  What did you think?

Alright, I think I’ve rambled on enough for one day.  I’m excited for the Bridal Show tonight!!  It should be a fun time!  Here’s to hoping I can win our honeymoon!!!  Have a good day!

  1. Weekends seriously FLY by…it’s insanity and unfair :P haha!

Edemame = my crack! I have to only get that stuff when I go out cause I’d eat it by the metric ton.

Choco + peanut butter is definitely a combo where you cannot go wrong ;) I’d chose the same!

Enjoy your Monday – let’s hope it’ll fly by too!

    • They really do! I agree! I think we should have 4 day work weeks instead of 5! :)

Haha! Me too. It’s SO good. I don’t even know why it’s so good. It’s only soy beans.

Thank you! I hope you had a great Monday! :)

  2. It must have been really tough to take that first step and call your dad after what happened, but it sounds like everything went well. I truly hope this is the beginning of a better road with him and that your relationship can become steadier. You’re such a great person and he’s missing out by being out of touch.

    • It definitely was extremely hard to call him. Thank you so much, Shari! :) That really means a lot. I hope that I can mend things with my dad. I know that we will never truly see eye to eye but I do want him in my life. I think it’s important to have a father in your life.

  3. Tommy and I keep saying we need to get back to Arirang because the sushi is so good!

Thank cheesecake looks amazing. My fav is strawberry cheesecake! I haven’t made cheesecake all summer and I think that needs to change really soon.

How do you make your kale chips? I want to try making em.

    • The sushi is amazing! I think it might need a break from there though. I think my fiance is getting tired of that place. Haha. ;)

Mmmm..strawberry cheesecake sounds amazing! I’ve never made a cheesecake before! I should try it!

I preheat the oven to 425 degrees and spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Toss the kale chips in cooking spray and then whatever seasoning you want to use. I used some garlic salt and pepper. Then roast it in the oven for about 15 minutes. It should come out nice and crispy! :)

  4. I’m going to be setting up some Ebay sales for some of the better end stuff I have to get rid of. I heard about how Plato’s low balls people too much and decided to forget about them. I’ll be sure to let you know how that works out!
