Good Morning! Happy Monday! I apologize for such a long break in posting. I needed a break from the computer. I barely went on my computer all weekend which is why some of you probably noticed I haven’t commented on your blogs. I definitely need to catch up today! I am so far behind! I needed to just unplug myself from my computer because I had a very stressful Friday afternoon at work. It was non-stop things that I had to do. Everything seemed to happen right before I was about to leave for the weekend. I was very stressed! By the time I left on Friday, I was so ready for a huge drink! Luckily, Mike and I were off to our new favorite Japanese place that has an awesome Happy Hour! I was in luck!
We went to the same place that we went to last Friday. I started off the evening with a Zombie drink. This was one STRONG drink! They top the drink with Bacardi 151! It was a very strong drink, not to mention very pretty looking.
Mike and I ordered a ton of different appetizers since all drinks and appetizers are half-off during the Happy Hour.
The food was excellent as always! It was so much food for not a lot of money. I’m loving that Happy Hour! Plus, this time we ended up getting a private booth in the bar so it was very relaxing after a long a stressful day at work. I enjoyed my date with Mike.
After dinner, we decided to check out a few stores. I’m on the lookout for some flip-flop dressy sandals that I can wear to work. We are not allowed to wear flip-flops meaning like Old Navy flip-flops to work. So I’m looking for something a little more dressy to wear. I’m having trouble finding anything! It’s awful. I have no shoes to wear to work. I have to be careful with the shoes I wear because last summer I broke my little toe. It still hurts pretty bad so it’s hard for me to wear certain types of shoes. Do you know where I can find cute flip flop sandals? Needless to say, we both didn’t end up getting anything. It was still fun to browse around though.
Saturday morning, I had sunny-side up eggs with a cinnamon raisin bagel thin.
I hurried and got myself ready to spend the afternoon with Melissa and my mom! We were celebrating Melissa’s birthday! Her actual birthday is tomorrow, yay! We wanted to do something special with her to celebrate over the weekend. So I head over to their house and picked them up!
Our first stop was Whole Foods. Whole Foods is Melissa’s absolute favorite place to eat lunch! Mine too actually! This is a look at what I chose from the food bar.
After enjoying our Whole Foods, we were off on an adventure! Last year for Melissa’s birthday, we went to every winery on the Bucks County Wine Trail. We had SO much fun doing wine tastings and everything together. So my mom and I planned to take Melissa to two wineries on the Brandywine Wine Trail! Our first stop on the wine trail was Penns Woods Winery. The scenery was absolutely beautiful there!
We walked in a stood around a bar while a girl allowed us to taste about 6 different wines. She explained all of them briefly and let us tell her what we thought. My mom and Melissa love wines that are a lot sweeter tasting than I do. I prefer red wines or occasionally a dry white. I’m not that into the sweet wines. I loved one of the white wines there. Melissa and my mom loved one of the dessert wines. Their wines though, we were extremely expensive! I’m not sure why all of their wines were so expensive. Nothing really blew me away but we had an amazing time trying out their wines! I even tasted a wild mushroom olive oil. It was rather interesting! It had a large hint of mushrooms! Very strange for an olive oil!
Next we were off to Chaddsford Winery, which is one of the most popular wineries in the Brandywine Valley. Let me tell you, we had some adventure trying to find this place! I’m not exaggerating when I say that we must have driven past the winery about 7 or 8 times before finally finding it! The GPS was not doing what it was supposed to. The GPS on my phone was saying something different. There were signs directing us in the wrong direction! It was crazy! We just kept laughing and having a great time while I was making illegal u-turns non-stop! Thank god, I didn’t get caught doing that! After about 45 minutes of searching, we finally find the winery!
This winery was absolutely packed! I completely forgot to take any pictures inside the place. With this tasting, they gave you a wine glass to take home as a souvenir. What I thought was very strange about this winery was that there was a bar set up in the back of a room with about 8 different wines. You would just go up as many times as you want and try whatever you wanted. They didn’t explain any of the wines which I didn’t like. You just tasted anything and everything. People were going up so many times trying things! It was insane!
I LOVED a red wine there. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy it. No one really likes red wine except for me. I didn’t want to buy it and drink the bottle myself. I think eventually I will go back there and buy it. We had such a great time trying all of those wines!
Melissa wants to make this an annual event for her birthday! I have no problems with that! I think it will be fun! We need to figure out which wineries we will go to next year!
Have you ever gone wine tasting?
When we got back to the area, I ventured home to prepare dinner for Mike and I. We decided that it was a Freschetta pizza kind of night. We tried a pizza from their new line called Simply Inspired.
This was the best pizza yet! The crust was perfectly crispy! The chicken, olives, spinach and alfredo sauce were amazing together! It was just SO good! I’m sad that this flavor is a limited time only! That means that I need to stock up next time there is a sale! If you see this pizza, grab it! It’s really good!
After dinner, we decided to go out for drinks with Melissa and Ryan! We ventured to a bar that we haven’t been to in Willow Grove called the Brickhouse Tavern. It was okay there. I ended up ordering one beer that was dreadful! Luckily, the next one was good. Would I go back there? Probably not. I was not a huge fan of the place.
Sunday morning, I woke up in our new mattress by the way! It’s going to take some getting used to but I think I like it so far! I started off the morning with a cereal cocktail.
Mike and I were out the entire day. We were running errands like crazy! I had so much to get done between last-minute preparation for Melissa’s birthday as well as my co-worker/friend’s birthday. I’m happy to say we got everything done! I’m pretty excited because today is my friend from work’s birthday, Tarra! I got her an awesome cake and a gift of course. I can’t wait for her to get into work today! Yay!
So for dinner last night, Mike and I decided to have Trader Joe’s lobster ravioli with Emeril’s Vodka Sauce.

I love Freschetta pizza!
Try Old Navy and Target for flip flops?
Me too! I think they are the best tasting frozen pizza by far!
I tried Target and had no luck. I will look at Old Navy next. Thanks!
I always talk about doing a winery tour but never do…
You should! It’s definitely a fun experience plus it helps you figure out which wines you really like
I did a wine tasting a Kings Ferry Winery up in the Finger Lakes area NY. It was a lot of fun and I definitely want to do it again. Although, if I had to choose, I’d do a beer tasting, because beer is my favorite!
That is awesome! I’ve heard there are really good wineries in NY. I’d love to do a beer tasting too! I think that would be so much fun!
