Good Morning Everyone! TGIF!!!
I can’t believe it is Friday already! This week seriously flew by so fast! Not that I’m complaining at all. It just flew by. I am hopefully going to be working this weekend. I have so much work to do and I could really use the extra money. So I’m hoping everything goes well and I can come in. Right now, Saturday is out of the picture because our database is getting a new patch or something. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Sunday! Let’s get to last night, shall we?
So yesterday when I got home from work, Mike had brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers!

I love that he picked out flowers that had a lot of purple flowers in them. Purple is my favorite color.
So after we exchanged cards and gifts, we decided to stop at the liquor store to pick up a bottle of wine because the restaurant we went to was a BYOB. We decided on Cavit Pinot Grigio. Now, Mike is not a big wine drinker at all and he suggested Pinot Grigio. He was happy with our selection. He actually ended up enjoying it! Yay, maybe a future wine drinker?
So we were off to the restaurant! We decided to go to Charcoal! For some reason it’s not letting me put the link in my post. If you are interested, email me and I can give you the details of the restaurant.

Charcoal is a BYOB Bistro that boasts a Progressive American/French fare and dining experience. Featuring seasonal menus & daily specials. They push the boundaries of food using modern technique and science, while still offering a level of comfort in a non stuffy environment. The restaurant is owned by Anton Plescha and his two sons, Mark and Eric Plescha are the Executive Chefs. Their sister is actually the hostess at the restaurant as well. The restaurant is decorated so cute inside. It is a cross between a bistro and an upscale diner. They feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant offers amazing views of the Delaware River.

Menu
We had an amazing waitress who took the time to go over the entire menu with us. She discussed how the chefs came up with the menu and what was in each dish. She made recommendations and just really made our experience a positive one. We most definitely had the best waitress in the restaurant.
She brought over some freshly baked rolls for us to start off with.
I am very picky with rolls from restaurants. I won’t eat them if they are too hard or crusty. This was perfect! It was soft and had a very doughy center. Delicious!
I started off with the Roasted Butternut Squash Soup served with an Almond Cinnamon Puff
I literally thought I died and went to heaven the second I put my spoon in the bowl. I have NEVER tasted anything like this in my life! It was creamy and tasted like a mix of pumpkin and cinnamon. There was a light drizzle of maple syrup on the top surrounding the almond cinnamon puff. This was by far the BEST soup I have ever had in my entire life. I could not get enough of it. I probably could have gone back to the kitchen to eat the entire pot of soup! I even took the rest of my roll and soaked up the rest of the soup. I would seriously go back to Charcoal just for the soup alone! I NEED to make this or go back and eat it ASAP! DELICIOUS! The almond cinnamon puffs were interesting. It was more like a foam consistency and just added a touch of flavor to the soup. Impressive!
For Mike’s appetizer, he got the Grilled Romaine with lemon confit, and caesar dressing.
This salad was amazing! The grilled romaine lettuce was incredible! The caesar dressing had a hint of lemon and just gave so much flavor to the salad. This was by far one of the best salads I ever tasted! It was a pretty big portion too. It is plenty for two people to share if they wanted to. Delicious!
Since our appetizers were incredible, I was getting a little nervous about the main courses. Could everything be perfect? I loved how I could see the brothers cooking in the kitchen. You could just tell how much passion and drive they have for their career. You could just feel the energy throughout the entire restaurant. I love when I see that. It gives me motivation to push myself to do what I really want to do career wise. Moving on to the main course!
I ordered the Roasted Lancaster Chicken Breast with fall vegetables and natural jus.
Oh, my lord!!!!!! This was the most incredible chicken I have ever tasted. The seasoning that was on the skin was so flavorful and delicious! I couldn’t figure out what blend of spices it was but whatever I was eating I loved! The chicken was juicy and had just so much flavor to it. But the best part of what was on my plate was the parsnip puree! I have never had that before and it tasted just like mashed potatoes but a little sweeter!!! Oh my! Delicious!!! I probably could have licked my entire plate!!! The little circle things you see in the picture were apples! They gave a little sweet and tart flavor to the entire meal. Wow! Now I was SO impressed! What an incredible plate of food!
Mike ordered the Filet Medallions with sweet smoked paprika, potato hash, and pan sauce.
This filet was perfection! You didn’t even need a knife to cut it! It had a ton of flavor! Mike loved it so much! The potatoes were little roasted potatoes mixed with mushrooms, spinach and onions! Wow! Incredible! Mike really enjoyed his meal. We both loved it so much!
I have to say that this has been THE BEST restaurant I have ever been to in my life. Now, I have dined at a few of Stephen Starr’s restaurants and one of Jose Garces’ restaurants and I loved them. But Charcoal is just something completely different! Not one thing that was placed on our table was bad. Everything was delicious. I am sitting here dreaming of the butternut squash soup! I would go back for just the soup and the parsnip puree alone! Wow! Culinary perfection! If you are ever in the Bucks County area, make sure you stop at Charcoal for dinner! Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!
After our bellies were full, we went home and relaxed while watching Grey’s Anatomy. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful anniversary. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night.
This morning I brought along with me to work a cinnamon raisin bagel-thin with cinnamon raisin swirl peanut butter and pumpkin coffee.
Now I should probably get back to work since I have so much of it to do.
What is the best restaurant you have ever been to? or What is the best thing you ever ate?
