With a Side of Hope

Good Morning Everyone!  I’m back!!  Did you miss me?  I was away for the entire weekend and I thought I might have had internet access but I wasn’t so lucky.  I apologize for my lack in posting.  I hope you are back and ready to catch up with me!  Let’s see.  Last month I applied to Food Buzz to to be a part of their Foodie Correspondent Program.  I wanted to attend an event in Atlantic City at the Borgata Casino called Savor Borgata.  Chefs from all of the restaurants at the Borgata were going to be cooking at this event.  It was my dream to attend this!  Luckily, I heard back from Food Buzz and they were SO incredibly gracious to allow me to attend this event and stay at the Water Club at the Borgata!  I jumped at the chance!  This was a once and a lifetime opportunity.  I would like to take this time to thank Food Buzz so incredibly much for allowing me to be part of such an incredible weekend!  I had the time of my life! 

I am going to take some time now to talk about parts of the trip leaving out the actual Savor Borgata event.  I am waiting for a few more details that I need in order to prepare my review of the event.  So stay tuned because I will be posting my review with lots of pictures sometime this week!  Let’s get to the weekend.

Friday after work, Mike and I packed our bags to head down to Atlantic City.  Before we left, we made a quick stop for dinner.  We ate quickly at Chick-fil-A.  Yum!

We arrived at the Water Club at around 10pm which was perfect because we didn’t have to wait in line to check in!  They gave us our keys and we were on our way!

This hotel was beautiful!  The room was so modern looking and comfortable.  There was plenty of room.  The bathroom was gorgeous!  It was so amazing to be able to stay over in such a beautiful hotel!  We really LOVED the room!  Thank you, Water Club! 

After checking into our room, we decided to head over to club Mur Mur because we had a VIP entrance for us.

We had a lot of fun at Mur Mur.  It was definitely one of the better clubs that I have been to in AC.  They played a lot of good music and although it was crowded there were a lot of places to stand.  I enjoyed myself.  I wish the drinks would have been a little bit cheaper but it was AC, what do you expect?  So after staying there for a little while, we decided to head back to the room.  We had a full day ahead of us!

We ordered room service for breakfast.  I was so excited to have room service!  This was only my second time ever having food delivered to the room!  I was excited!  Plus, it was Jeffrey Zakarian’s food and I was very excited to taste it!

The Water Club

Breakfast was delicious!  I ordered an omelette with organic eggs, mozzarella cheese, spinach and mushrooms.  It was delicious but huge!  I wasn’t a big fan of the home fries.  They had a strange spice on them which made it hard to enjoy.  So I opted away from them.  Haha.  All in all, I was impressed by the omelette.  Mike really enjoyed his breakfast too but had the same comment about the home fries.

After breakfast, we explored the hotel for a bit.

After our snack, we went back to the hotel room.  I was so incredibly nervous for what was to come!  I had the amazing opportunity to attend a Media Reception before the Savor Borgata Event!  I will be back this week with a recap from this event.  I have never been in a room with such highly acclaimed people before.  I was very intimidated.  I was able to meet all of the chefs and take pictures.  It was an incredible experience!  I have such respect for these chefs.  They are truly amazing!  I can’t wait to share my experience with you!

After the Media Reception, I grabbed Mike and we were off to the VIP portion of the Savor Borgata Event.  We had an incredible time!  We tried amazing food, met some truly fascinating people.  It was an incredible experience!  I promise I will share everything with you! 

When we were done at the event, we went back to the room to change so we could explore the hotel more.  When we got back to the room, it was dimly lit with this on our bed.

I thought it was such a nice touch that they did this to our room while we were out.  It made it relaxing to come back to the room to.  The Water Club has amazing customer service.  They really go above and beyond for you.  We were treated so nicely by every single staff member.  It is rare to find such great customer service these days and Water Club had just that!  It was refreshing to be around people who actually cared about providing excellent customer service.

So after exploring for a bit, we decided to go back to the room and go to sleep.  We had room service breakfast waiting for us and we had to leave early so I could make our friend’s baby shower on Sunday. 

For breakfast, I got a fruit cup and a yogurt and granola parfait.  It was delicious!  I loved the blend of granola!

After a truly incredible experience, thanks to Food Buzz, we sadly left the Water Club and I was ready for my next adventure of the weekend!

We stopped at home so I could pick up our friend’s shower gift and I drove up to our friend’s sisters house for the shower.  I was so nervous because I didn’t know anyone and she is one of 9 siblings!  I was very nervous.  As soon as I walked into the house though, I was greeted with open arms!  Her family is absolutely wonderful!  They are so caring and loving.  They made me feel so welcome!  Plus, the house was so beautiful!  I ended up having an amazing time!  I am so glad that I was able to share that special day with one of my great friends.  I cannot wait to meet their daughter!  I am counting down the days!  Only a few more weeks!  Here are some pictures from the shower!

I stayed at the baby shower for a while because I was having such a great time!    When I got home, I had to start baking for my cook-off at work today!  Ugh!  I made pumpkin spice cupcakes with a honey cinnamon cream cheese frosting!  I really hope I win!!!  Keep your fingers crossed! 

After baking, we had to run to the supermarket.  Then we stopped at Cosi and picked up dinner and brought it to Mike’s parents house to celebrate his dad’s birthday!

We stayed at Mike’s parents for a little bit to celebrate his dad’s birthday and then we went home.  I had to frost the cupcakes and then finally it was time for bed! I have been running non-stop since Friday.  I am so tired!

Today I have the cook-off and a 2 hour meeting.  So I’m not sure if I will have time to post again later.  I will try to!  Well I hope everyone has a great day today!  I will be back at some point today!
